Yu Gi Oh! Spirit Caller Puzzle Guide

by Sasha Maggio, Demand Media

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller is a video game designed for the Nintendo DS. The game allows players to access a Wi-Fi connection with their Nintendo DS and connect with other gamers around the world for Yu-Gi-Oh battles. The players work through a story that includes puzzles. The puzzles are not traditional puzzles, however; they are battles or duels that the player must win to continue gameplay. During the duels in the game, you have access to your virtual card pack from which you select the cards you wish to activate or engage in the battle. The video game is modeled after the Yu-Gi-Oh card games, and the card packs are incorporated into the video game itself.

    Beginner Puzzles

Playing the Spirit Caller game for the first time, the gamer is faced with 15 puzzles that begin with "Starting Off." "Starting Off" requires the gamer to summon Chimeratech Overdragon, which is made by activating the Overload Fusion card and offering Cyber Dragon and Proto Cyber Dragon. When you have the Chimeratech Dragon, activate the Creature Swap card and swap out the Chimeratech Dragon for the Blue-Eyes White Dragon then use the Blue-Eyes White Dragon to attack the Chimeratech Dragon. The remaining 14 puzzle-duels are Master the Dimensions; Oh! Jama!; Ancient Kings; Dark Room of Nightmare; Your Challenge 1; Parellel World Dweller; Trial of Strength; Only a Miracle; Spark Batteryman; Mighty Knights; Hero's Lapse; Testing Your Skills; First Barrier; and Wild Vigor. Each puzzle is defeated in a similar fashion in which the gamer activates a card to create, use, sacrifice or swap other cards.

    Intermediate Puzzles

When you have beaten the game and play again you have access to higher levels and the Intermediate Puzzles. These puzzles are similar to the beginner puzzles but more challenging to keep the gamer interested in the game. Another 15 puzzles for the gamer are offered: Your Challenge 2; Fight On; Perfect Defense; Go, Vehicroid; Home of the Fiends; Steel Stronghold; Warm Up; Unexpected Outcome; Smash Open the Gate; Mighty Knights 2; Cyber Crisis; Level Up; Path of Warriors; and Ultimate Fusion Power. To beat these puzzles you will have to beat the Beginner Puzzles so you have the necessary cards and skills.

    Advanced Puzzles

Many gamers play through the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller game multiple times. When you reach the Advanced Puzzles, you are presented with another 15 puzzles that require activating cards for different strategies. In order to beat the Advanced Puzzles you will have to have gone through all of the Beginner and Intermediate Puzzles. The Advanced Puzzles are as follows: Underdog Power; No Way!; Sharp Strategy; Your Challenge 3; Performance Testing; Token Master; Ninja Squad Arrives; Walk the Tightrope; Horus' Weakness; Voice from the Darkness; Final Challenge; Worst Enemy; Floating Fluff; What Will Remain?; and Tenacity of Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

    Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller Cards

When you first play the Spirit Caller game your character has 26-card pack to use in duels. As you play, you have the opportunity to win or otherwise acquire additional cards and packs. When you beat the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller game -- and sit through the end credits -- you are given the chance to activate one card from the Forbidden Cards list. You may use the card once in the next round you play. See Resources for lists of the standard Spirit Caller gameplay deck and the Forbidden Cards list.
