Yosemite Lodging & Pets

While none of the hotels in Yosemite National Park allows pets, most of the 13 campgrounds do. There are several pet-friendly hotel options within an hour's drive of Yosemite National Park, offering low rates for pets to stay with their owners. Most hotels request advance notice for pets, so it is a good idea to give your chosen hotel a head's up when making your reservations.

Yosemite National Park Campgrounds

There are 13 campgrounds in Yosemite National Park and most are pet friendly: Only Tamarack Flat, Porcupine Flat, group camps, horse camps and walk-in campgrounds do not allow pets. Pets are allowed only on paved pathways and must be on leashes that are no longer than 6 feet.

Tenaya Lodge

The Tenaya Lodge is two miles from the gates of Yosemite Park. Each guest room is unique, but all feature plush down bedding. One or two dogs are welcome at a cost of $75, and a third may be brought for an extra $25. The hotel requests that reservations with pets be made by phone. Upon arrival, dogs and their owners receive complimentary treats. Dogs also are provided with plush beds and dishes for use during their stay.

The Groveland Hotel

The Groveland Hotel is a bed and breakfast just a few miles from the year-round north entrance of Yosemite National Park. All rooms feature private baths and comfortable featherbeds, and are decorated in Victorian style. The hotel has a cat and dog ambassadors who often greet guests, and pets are welcome at a rate of $15 per animal per night. Pets are pampered with a comfortable quilt for sleeping, food and water dishes and bedtime treats.

The Narrow Gauge Inn

The Narrow Gauge Inn is a 10-minute drive from the south entrance of Yosemite. Each of the 26 guest rooms has double, queen or king beds. Pets are welcome for a one-time $25 fee per pet. From spring through fall, the inn offers dinner in the Dining Hall and Buffalo Bar from Wednesday through Sunday. Guests also can take advantage of the hotel's complimentary breakfast each morning.

Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn

The Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn is 15 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite. It houses 122 guest rooms, an indoor pool with a hot tub and waterfall, a restaurant where guests can partake in a complimentary breakfast and a cocktail lounge. Small- and medium-size pets are allowed but must be declared upon reservation. There is no additional fee for pets.
