The Wording for Invitations for a Rehearsal Dinner Pizza Party

by Jamie Farber, Demand Media

The night before a wedding, most couples host a rehearsal dinner, following the wedding rehearsal. Traditionally, the rehearsal dinner is hosted by the groom's parents and is for just the wedding party and close family members. However, as more and more couples are opting for destination weddings or more casual events, rehearsal dinners are adapting, becoming events for out-of-town guests or simply a laid back night before the wedding. Pizza parties often fit the bill because they are relatively casual and an inexpensive option for feeding large amounts of people. There are several different wording options you can use on an invitation.

    Basic Invite

One of the easiest ways to word an invitation to a rehearsal dinner pizza party is to simply call it what it is -- a pizza party. You could use a phrase like this one, found on Celebration Ideas Online, "We're sure ready for dinner after all this practicing!" Please join (bride's name) and (groom's name) for a pizza party rehearsal dinner at (location). You can use stationary with pizzas or place pizza clip art on the invite.

    Fun Wording

Weddings can be formal affairs with little room for whimsy. The rehearsal dinner invitation, however, is one place where you can have a little fun. For a relaxed pizza party, you can try this wording suggested by Invitations Consultants. "(groom's name) popped the question and (bride's name) said "yes." All the planning is over, from the hall to the dress. Only one thing remains for this day to be great. 'Practice makes Perfect' (rehearsal dinner date) is the date. We'll practice the ceremony, and iron out the kinks. Then it's off to the (rehearsal dinner location) for some pizza and drinks!"

    Casual Invitation

If you want to have some fun with your invitation, you can use a play on the words and use the following lines "Itza Pizza Party. Please join (bride's name) and (groom's name) for pizza, fun and drinks following the wedding rehearsal on (date of event) at (location of rehearsal dinner)." To fully understand the wording of this invitation, you need to read the first line aloud -- it is a play on the stereotypical Italian pizza chef. Decorate an invitation that uses this wording with cartoon art of a pizza chef.

    Pizza Toppings

Paper Style has wording that plays on pizza toppings and will prepare your guests for a casual night of pizza and fun. "Pepperoni, sausage or just plain cheese. As long as you come to the rehearsal dinner, you can have any toppings you please! Please join us for a pizza party the night before (bride's name) and (groom's name) wedding for fun and relaxation." Make sure the invitation design matches the wording with cartoons or pictures of pizza toppings and pizza slices.
