Explore the mountain playground known as Whistler with your four-legged family member. One of the host cities for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, this mountain town offers world-class skiing in the winter and challenging hiking and biking trails during the warmer months. A number of Whistler’s hotels are pet-friendly. Check in and then take your pet for a run at one of the village’s off-leash exercise areas that include Alpha Lake, and Meadow and Rainbow parks.
Summit Lodge & Spa
The Summit Lodge & Spa welcomes guests and their pets to the very heart of Whistler Village. Choose from a studio or one-bedroom suite, each with kitchenette, fireplace and private balcony. Sample the Spanish mini-meals known as tapas along with fine wines and martinis at the Elements Urban Tapas Parlour. Book a Javanese massage at the Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa, and then take a refreshing dip in the pool. Pets at this property are welcome in all room types. Pet owners must sign a damage waiver upon check-in. Summit Lodge is less than a block from Village Park.
Delta Whistler Village Suites
Families and those looking for the extra space and convenience of apartment-style living tend to gravitate toward the Delta Whistler Village Suites. Located in central Whistler and only two blocks from Village Park, this pet-friendly property offers one- and two-bedroom units with full kitchens that are moderately priced. Order groceries online and have them delivered to your suite, or go downstairs for a meal at the Elephant Castle Pub & Restaurant. For more formal dining, try the on-site Hy's Steakhouse. The Delta Whistler also offers an In Room Breakfast option. Order the fixings for a continental or cooked breakfast and the hotel will deliver the ingredients to your room. Two pets per room -- cats and dogs only -- are allowed. Each must be under 50 lb. A pet fee is charged per animal.
The Adara Hotel, located in the middle of Whistler Village, takes very good care of its two-legged guests. Book your suite with the floating electric fireplace, the upscale linens gracing beds with custom log headboards and the cave-like, walk-in rain showers. Dogs of 40 lb. or less are equally welcome. The Adara Hotel charges a nightly pet fee with part of that money going toward helping homeless animals at the British Columbia SPCA. Food and water bowls are provided, as are dog-walking areas on property. Pet-friendly suites must be booked prior to arrival.
Westin Resort & Spa Whistler
Pets are pampered at the Westin Resort & Spa Whistler. Your furry family member will be welcomed with his own food and water bowls as well as a packet of pet treats, and then sleep on his own Westin Heavenly Dog Bed. A “Pet in Room” sign is provided so that your pet won’t be disturbed during his nap or while you are out of the room having a massage at the Avello Spa or dinner at the Aubergine Grille. The Westin is near the Whistler Golf Course and the Sea-to-Sky Highway on the southern edge of Whistler Village. This part of town has more open spaces to take your pet for a walk. The Westin does require reservations in advance and charges a cleaning deposit.
