West Florida Hotels

Located near the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, western Florida provides popular beach destinations such as Sarasota, Clearwater Beach and Naples. Many of the hotels in these cities offer a beachfront setting that includes canopies and sometimes even a fire pit surrounded by loungers. Whether you're looking for a downtown boutique-style hotel or a resort with spa services, you'll find numerous hotels in this area of Florida.

Clearwater Hotels

Located on 10 acres and offering panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico, the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort is an oasis with its private white beach, a fire pit, private cabanas and a palm tree-lined entryway. Rooms offer soft touches of tans, creams and reds, and guestrooms are separated from living rooms by French doors. Room amenities include robes, Internet access and mini-refrigerator. Resort activities range from bicycle rentals to two outdoor swimming pools and beach volleyball. The hotel is within one mile of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, where you can view dolphin shows and see stingrays. The 253 guestrooms in the Sandpearl Resort are decorated in warm yellows and include Internet access, robes, minibars and sitting areas. The resort provides laundry services, spa services such as facials and pedicures and an outdoor swimming pool with water and beach views. The resort's restaurant, Caretta on the Gulf, offers cooking classes and prepares sushi, flatbread pizza and burgers. The resort is within 14 miles of the 18-hole Airco Golf Course on Stoneybrook Drive.

Sarasota Hotels

Located on Siesta Key in Sarasota, the four-story Holiday Inn Express offers packages that include discounts on multiple-night stays and passes to a local water park. The 116 rooms provide sitting areas, Internet access and kitchenettes. On-site services include a complimentary breakfast, an outdoor swimming pool and laundry services. Nearby attractions include the Mote Marine Aquarium, approximately nine miles away, where you can view aquatic species such as sharks and manatees. The Hyatt Regency Sarasota offers views of the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay from its 294 pet-friendly guestrooms. Rooms include floral decor, accents of green and pink on the furniture and dark wooden headboards and furnishings. Satellite TV, Internet access and iPod docks add to the room amenities. Hotel services include an outdoor swimming pool lined by palm trees, a business center and an airport shuttle. The main restaurant, Currents, offers views of Sarasota Bay and prepares tuna steak, ribs and crab salad.

Fort Myers Hotels

The pet-friendly Hotel Indigo is a boutique-style hotel that welcomes pets 70 lb. or less to stay in guestrooms for a fee. Rooms include hardwood floors, pale blue hues and views of downtown Fort Myers. Rooms offer complimentary newspapers, satellite TV and Internet access. An outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center with cardiovascular machines and a playground add to the on-site amenities. The hotel's downtown location puts it within five miles of attractions such as the Harborside Convention Center and both Thomas Edison's and Henry Ford's estates. The three-story Courtyard Fort Myers Cape Coral is a Marriott hotel that provides 137 guestrooms with satellite TV, kitchenettes and living rooms with sofa beds. Rooms offer a welcoming feel with framed photographs above the desk, floral bedspreads and light-orange walls. Services include dry cleaning, and guests enjoy an outdoor pool and a hot tub. For golfers, the 36-hole Heritage Palms Country Club is two miles away. If you're interested in hiking or lying out on the beach, Lovers Key State Park is only 15 miles from the hotel.

Naples Hotels

The Edgewater Beach Hotel is a member of the Waldorf Astoria Collection. Situated along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, the hotel offers suite-style guestrooms with views of either Naples or the water. The spacious rooms offer a sitting area with black wicker furniture and striped cushions, floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors throughout and a full kitchen. For kids, the hotel's Naples Grande Kids Club includes movie nights, nature walks and beach activities. Guests can enjoy activities ranging from an outdoor swimming pool to lighted tennis courts and spa services at the Golden Door Spa. The Naples Bay Resort includes Spanish-style decorations with arched entryways, orange, yellow and red exteriors and red-tile roofs. Guestrooms have chandeliers over the dining area, plush couches in the living room and deep soaking bathtubs. An outdoor pool, boat docking and six lighted tennis courts are among the amenities. The resort provides a shuttle to and from the beach. Located on Fifth Avenue, the hotel is a short distance from attractions and restaurants such as Bistro 821, where you can choose from a menu of grilled shrimp, vodka penne and chicken pot pie. The restaurant is less than a mile away.
