Upscale Miami Hotels

by Lee Morgan

Vacationers looking to stay in the best of South Florida’s hotels need to look no further than Miami. Some of the state’s most luxurious hotels are located in the state’s southernmost metropolis. Here, tourists flock to the sunny beaches and party the nights away in the local clubs. Several upscale Miami hotels allow you to rest after a long day of revelry.

Delano Miami

The Delano Hotel is a distinct destination in the heart of Miami’s South Beach. Located directly on the white sand beach, this hotel’s architecture blends the indoors with the outdoors so that visitors are never quite sure whether they are inside the building or out in Miami’s beautiful weather. The hotel has an indoor /outdoor lobby, and features multiple areas where the line between the interior and exterior of the property are blurred. The Delano is also home to exquisite artwork from famous artists such as Salvador Dali, Antonio Gaudi and Man Ray. Hotel amenities include a spa, fitness center, pool and beach, as well as several dining and bar options. Rooms at the Delano are designed in bright whites and tropical plants, and feature sweeping views of the ocean or the Miami skyline. Choose from king suites, ocean-front alcoves, bungalows, full-sized apartments, a penthouse suite with its own balcony large enough for sunbathing, Italian marble bathrooms and a fully stocked bar.

Sofitel Miami

The four-star Sofitel Miami is located inland, unlike many of its luxury competitors on the beaches. But the Sofitel has its own blue lagoon and a design that meets the expectations of those traveling to Miami who want to see the best of the city’s Art Deco architecture. The hotel is convenient to the airport, but seems far away from the hustle and bustle of South Beach, even though it is just a short drive by car. The rooms here are decorated in dark, polished woods and Art Deco furnishings. Rooms have views of either the Miami skyline or the on-site lagoon. Amenities at the Sofitel include two French fusion restaurants, a cocktail lounge and snack bar, and a pool with a waterfall.

Fontainebleau

The Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami is a massive luxury hotel located right on the white sand beach. The rooms are bright with lots of windows to let the Florida sunshine in, and the 1,504 guest rooms range from regular guestrooms to three-bedroom suites and penthouses in two towers. Room amenities are unmatched in the area, with high-definition, flat-screen televisions, 20-inch Apple iMac computers and an advanced sound system. The in-room computer brings guests all the information about the hotel and the area that would normally be distributed in hotel brochures. The Fontainebleau offers an option of eight restaurants, three bars, three lounges, two nightclubs, a pool, beach access, a marina and a kid’s program.

One Bal Harbor

Located right on the sands of Miami Beach, One Bal Harbor Resort and Spa overlooks the bright-blue Atlantic where it meets the intra-coastal waterway. This ultra-chic hotel is located just 15 minutes away from South Beach’s shopping and nightclub district, but you may not want to leave. Lush gardens wind their way through the village, and provide a peaceful place to enjoy the scenery and amenities. Among the options for guests at One Bal Harbor are beach chairs and umbrellas along the sand, an executive business center, in-room massage, heated pools, private cabanas, whirlpools, private butler service and a convenient heliport.
