Unique Party Locations in Ocean County, New Jersey

by Elaine Anderson, Demand Media

Ocean County, New Jersey, is home to several unique and interesting locations for parties. This county does not limit your choices to bowling alleys or movie theaters when it comes to regular entertainment, and party options are no different. Here you can choose to go camping, visit a planetarium, explore a zoo and aquarium or go on a day cruise for your party.

    Camping

As of 2011, there were 15 campground options in Ocean County, New Jersey. Camping is a unique party idea because it extends the party beyond one afternoon. Friends and family can gather at a campground and spend a weekend or more together to celebrate a special event such as a birthday. Campground options in Ocean County include grounds near Timberland Lake for lakeside camping or Indian Rock grounds in Jackson, New Jersey, which offer the Jersey Devil Haunted Hayride and water and electric hookups with every campsite.

    Planetarium

The Robert J. Novins Planetarium in Toms River, New Jersey, offers a few different options for a unique party experience. For larger groups, you can consider events such as the Seasonal Star Watch: a free opportunity to use telescopes and view celestial events. For $25 per person as of 2011, Learning, Lunch and Laughter allows visitors to view two of the Planetarium's special presentations with a break for lunch in the College Center. Otherwise, if you'd prefer to attend just one show, you can get a special group rate of $7 per person for groups of 15 or more with advance arrangement.

    Zoo

Popcorn Park Zoo was established in 1977 as a refuge for sick, elderly, abused or injured animals and has since expanded to hold more than 200 local and exotic animals in Pine Barrens, New Jersey. African lions, wallabies, monkeys, tigers and a camel are just a few of the animals whose stories of suffering and recovery are told to visitors of the zoo. As of 2011, admission is normally $5 for adults and $4 for children under 12, but there is a group rate of $2.50 per person. You can hold a party at the picnic area, and cold drinks, peanuts, popcorn and ice cream are sold on zoo grounds.

    Fantasy Island Park

As of 2011, Fantasy Island Park offers visitors free admission, free parking and free entertainment. Ride tokens are 75 cents each or $15 for a 20-token roll or $30 for a 40-token roll. Ride tokens do not expire and are good for any year. Entertainment includes magic shows to catch in between rides such as the Ferris Wheel, bumper cars, a dragon coaster and Tilt-A-Whirl. A food court sells chicken fingers, hot dogs, and hamburgers as well as ice cream and cotton candy. To reserve the entire park for your party, as of 2011 you can pay $20 per person for three hours of unlimited rides, ice cream and fountain sodas.
