Thomas the Tank Engine is a popular party theme for preschool boys and girls alike. You can find invitations, party favors and games galore featuring the happy little blue engine and all of his Sodor friends. If you have a little bit of artistic talent and a tight budget, you can create the invitations yourself, adding a personal touch to your child's birthday party.

Trains

Create an invitation using card stock or construction paper in the shape of your child's favorite Sodor train. You may choose blue Thomas, green Percy, red James or any of the other Sodor friends. Or, create a different invitation for each party guest. On the outside of the invitation write, "THOMAS invites you to the island of Sodor to celebrate Parker's 4th Birthday!" You can change the name of the train to fit the illustration on the front of the invitation. Inside of the invitation, list all of the relevant party information.

Tracks

Use heavy card stock and black construction paper to create a party invitation that resembles train tracks. Draw Thomas the Tank Engine or any of his Sodor counterparts on the front of the invitation with the tracks. Write, "Who is that train coming down that track?" On the inside of the invitation write, "It's Thomas! He invites you to celebrate Carson's 6th Birthday," along with any relevant party information.

Tickets

Use card stock, markers and other decorative items to create an invitation that resembles a train ticket. If you choose, you may write, "Thomas The Tank Engine" on the front of the invitation so that guests will know that it is the party theme. On the inside, write "Toot! Toot! All Aboard the Sodor Express to Jake's 5th Birthday Party!" along with any relevant party information. You may also write, "Don't Forget to Bring Your Ticket For Admission To All Of The Birthday Festivities!" and as guests enter the party, act as a conductor and use a hole puncher to validate their tickets.

Sir Topham Hatt

Sir Topham Hatt is the stuffy owner of the trains on the Island of Sodor. He is a much loved and easily recognized character for Thomas the Tank Engine fans. Use heavy card stock to create a party invitation bearing his likeness and a speech bubble that says "You're a really useful engine!" one of Sir Topham Hatt's signature lines. On the inside of the invitation write, "Inviting all useful engines to help us celebrate Ryan's 3rd Birthday with all of his Sodor friends!" along with all relevant party information.
