Woodbridge, Virginia, is a quaint town 20 miles south of Washington, D.C. Woodbridge is the home of the Fitzner Stadium, where baseball legend Barry Bonds played his first professional game. Sports is an important part of the Woodbridge community. The town is home to the Potomac Nationals team and the Northern Virginia Royals soccer team. Each September the residents of Woodbridge, Virginia, celebrate Labor Day weekend Visitors and residents can enjoy a variety of family friendly events such as car shows, concerts and picnics on Labor Day weekend.


Sponsored annually by Tim's Rivershore Crab House (, Waterstock is a unique Labor Day weekend concert event. Dozens of bands and singers perform on a barge floating in the middle of the historic Potomac River. Labor Federation Picnic

A Labor Day weekend would not be complete without a picnic. The Northern Virginia Labor Federation hosts an annual Labor Day picnic in Veterans Park. The picnic is laid out underneath a big pavilion where traditional fare, such as ribs, sausages and peppers, hot dogs, hamburgers and all the fixings await hungry crowds. Potomac Nationals Baseball

The Potomac Nationals host Fan Appreciation Day at Fitzner Stadium on Labor Day. The holiday weekend kicks off with a Saturday night fireworks display following the game against the Kinston Indians. Sunday is Lacrosse Day and Monday, Labor Day, is Fan Appreciation Day. Tickets are only $1. Past Labor Day weekend events have included a chance for kids to run the bases in the stadium and autograph opportunities.
