Waveland, Mississippi is located in Hancock County near the southernmost tip of the state, on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. This city was devastated by hurricane Katrina back in 2005 but residents have built a considerable amount of the city back up since the disaster. This relatively small city hosts a population of just over 6,600 residents. There are many things to do now in Waveland, Mississippi; the city hosts a considerable amount of dining and shopping venues as well as several entertainment options.

Public parks are located throughout Waveland. Waveland parks are suited for adults and children of all ages. Buccaneer State Park features a wading pool, water slide, wave pool and nature trail. This park also offers tennis courts and basketball courts. Veterans Memorial Park features a beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Lucien Gex Playground is a park that features playground equipment and a merry-go-round.


Waveland visitors have many lodging options within the city. Visitors interested in camping at Buccaneer State Park can reserve one of the park's 149 camping pads or 50 tent sites.
