Located between 42nd and 53rd streets and Sixth to Ninth avenues, New York’s Theater District is home to 39 professional theaters in Manhattan. When visiting “The Great White Way,” the best hotels are those that are close to theaters and other NYC attractions a guest may want to visit, such as Times Square, Madison Square Garden or Central Park.

Best Western President Hotel

Located near the Jacob Javits Center, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue shopping and museums, the Best Western President Hotel is in middle of New York City’s Theater District. Although Best Western hotels are sometimes thought of as a budget accommodation, there is nothing cheap about the establishment’s interior. Decorated with modern furnishings and sleek, decorative elements, rooms at the Best Western feature stark white-and-black, brown or violet rooms with lithograph portraits of U.S. landmarks and iconic people, such as Abraham Lincoln or Mount Rushmore. The hotel offers two different restaurants and discounted parking at a nearby garage.

Hilton Times Square

Offering views of the Hudson River and New York City’s skyline, the Hilton Times Square stands 44 stories tall. This establishment features a modernistic façade that was inspired by artist Piet Mondrian, modern interior decor and original works of art throughout the hotel’s guest rooms and public areas. Because the Hilton is on 42nd Street, guests are within a block of the closest Broadway theaters, a half mile from Central Park and a block away from Times Square. Amenities and services at the pet-friendly Hilton include use of a typewriter, notary public and secretarial services and an ATM machine.

Milford Plaza at Times Square

Once known as the “Lullaby of Broadway,” the Milford Plaza was the largest hotel in New York City when it opened its doors in 1928, and it remains one of the largest in Manhattan today. This hotel also places guests a block from Times Square and near 14 Broadway theaters and other NYC attractions such as Central Park and Madison Square Garden. Great for travelers on a budget, the pet-friendly Milford Plaza places its guests in the middle of the Theater District without charging expensive rates. Accommodations at this hotel have a monochromatic, mustard-yellow color scheme with splashes of royal blue on the curtains, and all are standard guest rooms with up to two beds.

Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel by Marriott

With interiors crafted by designer Jordan Mozer, the Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square is a luxury hotel in midtown Manhattan on Seventh Avenue that is near the Museum of Modern Art, Madison Square Garden and Fifth Avenue shopping. Accommodations feature hardwood furnishings with gold and blue accents, soundproof walls and bathrooms with granite counters and porcelain-bowled sinks. Amenities include complimentary bike rentals and shoeshine, and the Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square will accommodate pets for a non-refundable fee of $100.
