Tennessee's Miss Fairest of the Fair pageants are state traditions that celebrate true Southern Belles. The pageants, which are hosted at different fairs around the state, including the Tennessee State Fair in Nashville (tennesseestatefair.org), are established for girls and young women from newborn to 20 years old.

Miss Fairest of the Fair

For the Miss Fairest of the Fair pageant, contestants must be at least 16 years old and must not turn 21 before the end of the calendar year. Only residents of Tennessee are eligible. The pageant is open to women who have never been married and have never had children. Contestants are judged on their formal wear, beauty, poise and personality.

Miss Teen Fairest of the Fair

Contestants competing in the Miss Teen Fairest of the Fair beauty pageant must be between 13 and 15 years old. Contestants are judged on poise as well as personality and attractiveness. Contestants are required to wear formal pageant dresses.

Miss Junior Fairest of the Fair

The Miss Junior Fairest of the Fair beauty pageant is open to girls between the ages of 10 and 12 who are legal residents Tennessee. Contestants must wear formal pageant dresses during the competition. As in the other Fairest of the Fair beauty pageants, the contestants will be judged on their attractiveness, poise and personality.

Miss Petite Fairest of the Fair

The Miss Petite Fairest of the Fair beauty pageant is open to girls between the ages of 6 and 9. These girls are required to wear Sunday dresses or pageant dresses during the competition. As in the other pageants, contestants are judged on their attractiveness, poise and personalities.

Miss Tiny and Miss Baby Fairest of the Fair

Even the youngest of girls can compete in a beauty pageant. For youngsters between the ages of 3 and 5, there is the Miss Tiny Fairest of the Fair pageant. For babies between newborn and 35 months of age, there is the Miss Baby Fairest of the Fair pageant. Contestants in both of these pageants must wear Sunday or pageant dresses during the competition. Contestants are judged on their attractiveness, poise and personality.
