Street rod car shows are a time for enthusiastic car owners to display the prized upkeep and after-market modifications of their vehicles. Community members, organizations and even law enforcement agencies stand in awe and appreciation of custom paint jobs, interior upholstery and shiny under-hood additions. Various automotive organizations host street rod shows in different cities throughout Pinellas County.

Suncoast Mustang Club

The Suncoast Mustang Club ( hosts street rod shows in Pinellas' County several times a year and generates revenues to support charities such as the Pinellas Park Public Education Foundation. Club members display their cars. An annual spring show is put on in Pinellas Park. Car entry fees include food and beverages. The show is free to spectators. During the summer the Suncoast Mustang Club holds a show at St. Petersburg's duPont Registry ( The club's classic street rod display offers a change from the late-model exotic luxury cars normally presented at the registry's Saturday shows.

Rotary Club of Eastlake Sunrise

The annual Cruisin' the Park Car Show and Community Festival in Palm Harbor is hosted by the Rotary Club of Eastlake Sunrise ( Car owners are encouraged to show their cars to compete for trophies. The show is free to community members. Community organizations play active roles in the show with exhibitions from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit ( and the East Lake High School Robotics Club ( Live entertainment is provided by the local high school band and the East Lake Fire Honor Guard ( while activities are held by the Young Men's Christian Association (

Old Palm Harbor

The Old Palm Harbor street rod car show is hosted by automotive enthusiast Paul Figoni. the show is held every May to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer foundation ( and the Jessica Dover Foundation for the treatment of autism ( The cars cruise down Georgia Avenue between 12th Street and Omaha Circle in downtown Palm Harbor. Participating car owners compete for trophies while onlookers enjoy live music and vendor concessions.

Other Paul Figoni Shows

Paul Figoni arranges the showcasing of street rods every second Saturday at Murray's Speed and Custom ( in Dunedin and every fourth Sunday at the Oldsmar Flea Market ( The Dunedin show occurs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. while Oldsmar Flea Market hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Oldsmar grounds are larger and accommodate up to 60 cars. Vehicle owner participation is encouraged at both events with burger and hot dog meal give-aways and free gift certificates.
