If you want to become a motocross racer or want to take paths located deep in mountainous areas, you need to learn how to ride your dirt bike while it is high in the air. If you do not use the proper technique, you will find yourself face first in the dirt, or worse, severely injured. Always wear a dirt bike-designed helmet and chest protector while riding. These help keep you safe if you fall off your dirt bike.
Step 1
Accelerate gradually as you come to the jump. Continue to throttle as you go up the jump to prevent the bike from going into a nose dive.
Step 2
Position your feet so that the foot pegs are in the middle of your feet while in the air.
Step 3
Place your knees in a slightly bent position against the bottom of the gas tank.
Step 4
Arch your back with your arms facing upward and your elbows forward.
Step 5
Move your head so that it is slightly over the handlebars.
Step 6
Place at least one finger on the clutch and brake levers.
Step 7
Gas the bike while it is in the air and near the landing ramp. This straightens the bike out, preventing you from falling off of the bike.
