Miami is one of Florida’s beach destinations where the only thing hotter than the sand in the summer are the nightspots. Trendy clubs, bars and restaurants are found throughout the area, especially within South Beach, a section known for its artists and specialty restaurants run by well-known chefs. You will also find a selection of hotels in this section of the beaches of Miami.

Shelborne Beach Resort

The Shelborne Beach Resort is on Miami’s South Beach with a history that dates back to the 1940s. It’s gone through a huge remodeling project that has taken it into 21st-century luxury. Guests have oceanfront accommodations in 200 rooms and suites. The pools have cabanas that offer private bathrooms and shower, with bar service available at the oceanfront deck area, which includes Jacuzzi tubs. Inside, the Shelborne has an indoor/outdoor restaurant led by Pablo Dominquez, an award-winning chef.

Hotel Riu Florida Beach

The Riu Hotel chain has properties around the world, but there’s just one in the U.S. and it’s in South Beach, Miami. The Hotel Riu Florida Beach has nearly 300 rooms, some with balconies overlooking the ocean. A restaurant and lounge are in the hotel, and a snack bar is poolside. The Hotel Riu has a swimming pool -- with complimentary lounge chairs -- and a gym.

The Betsy Hotel

The Betsy is a boutique property of 63 rooms and suites on the ocean. Within this historic landmark is The Deck, a rooftop oasis that includes views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Deck has a Spa and Wellness Garden, as well as a bar where you can enjoy the view over cocktails and light meals. Within the lobby, Laurent Tourondel’s BLT Steak restaurant has received accolades from magazines like “Travel & Leisure” and “Wine and Spectator Magazine.”

Cavalier Hotel

Between the large resorts and flashy hotels of South Beach are some small places to get a room in South Beach. The Cavalier Hotel is one such accommodation. The rooms here are pretty small and very simple, but it’s on Ocean Drive, in the middle of all the action and a short cross of the street to the beach. The Cavalier offers rooms with one or two queen beds, Internet access and a bar/restaurant downstairs.

Every February, South Beach becomes a Mecca of indulgence with the Food Network’s South Beach Food & Wine Festival. The event runs for four days and the exhibitions, seminars and parties are held throughout the Miami Beach neighborhood If you are interested in being in the area during this time, book your hotel far in advance.
