The repeat function is a convenient iTunes feature that will allow you to listen to songs or playlists over and over again. However, if you do not understand the repeat function within iTunes, it can be confusing when your songs continuously repeat. Fortunately, the repeat function is easy to turn on and off after you understand how it works. There are two menus available inside iTunes that will allow you to turn the repeat mode on and off.

Step 1

Find the "Repeat" button -- it has two arrows that do not intersect -- in the bottom left corner of iTunes. It is the third button from the left side of the screen.

Step 2

Click the button to rotate among the various repeat functions --"Play playlist once," "Repeat playlist once" and "Repeat item." The arrows on the button will be black when in "Play playlist once" mode, blue when in "Repeat playlist once" mode and blue with a "1" over them when in "Repeat item" mode.

Step 3

Choose "Play playlist once" to stop songs from repeating in iTunes.

Step 4

Click the "Controls" menu and choose "Repeat" as an alternate method to changing the repeat function. Select "Off" from the "Repeat" menu. When you make a selection within this menu, the changes will be reflected in the "Repeat" button.
