Several Michigan universities have snowboarding clubs or teams. These clubs are a place to make friends, improve your skills, compete in regional events or learn the basics of snowboarding. Most schools in Michigan are members of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association. Schools generally participate in five or six competitive events every year.
Michigan Tech Ski Club
Michigan Technological University's Ski Club is a member of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association. Members compete with other regional schools in alpine skiing, cross country, snowboarding and freestyle. This club is for Michigan Tech students at the Marquette Campus. The team takes trips during the off season, including a spring break trip to Crested Butte Ski Area. During most school years, the team starts meeting in early October.
Central Michigan Ski and Snowboard Racing Club Team
Central Michigan University's ski and snowboard racing team has been around for more than 20 years, as of 2011. The team has recently grown from 8 to 27 members and is competing in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association. The Central Michigan University team had 12 men and seven women as of March 2010. The team competes in Ostego, Crystal Mountain, Gaylord and Shush Mountain. The team participates in fundraising activities and works with the Special Olympics during the offseason.
Michigan State University Alpine Ski and Snowboard Team
The Michigan State University Alpine Ski and Snowboard Team is a competitive winter sports team. The team is a part of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association. The team competes in both ski and snowboarding events. Team members are university students whose skill level can range from beginner to expert.
The University of Michigan Ski and Snowboard Team
The University of Michigan Ski and Snowboard Team is a competitive team that participates in five to six races each year. The team is for students at the University of Michigan's main campus in Ann Arbor, Mich. The snowboarders compete in the snowboard cross and snowboard slalom events. The team is a member of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association and competes against schools throughout Michigan and the Midwest.
