Seattle Airport Area Hotels

by Wendy K. Leigh

The Seattle airport in western Washington is actually located between the two cities of Seattle and Tacoma, hence the name Sea-Tac International. With easy access from the junction of Interstates 5 and 405, the airport also benefits from its border with Highway 99. Known as International Boulevard where it runs alongside the eastern boundary of the airport, this roadway takes travelers to a wide variety of hotels, most of which provide complimentary shuttles directly to and from the airport.

International Boulevard

Hotels within 10 miles of Sea-Tac International Airport are numerous and convenient, but you can't get much closer than the ones located directly on International Boulevard/Highway 99, which changes names near Pacific Highway South. Economy choices include Days Inn, Sleep Inn and Econo Lodge, while mid-range or upscale properties are offered by Marriott's Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn and the Doubletree. Many additional properties are within one mile of the terminals, with shuttle service dropping off travelers at Islands 1 and 3 on the third level of the parking garage. A ground transportation information booth is also located here.

Park and Fly Packages

If you're arriving at Sea-Tac airport in your car with a need to leave it parked during the duration of your trip, a very convenient and cost-effective strategy is to stay in a hotel near the airport that offers a "park and fly" option. It is often less expensive to pay for a night at the hotel and leave your car in its secure lot while you are away, with the added benefit that you skip the commute time to the airport on the day of your flight. Most of these packages near Sea-Tac allow guests to park free in the hotel lot for seven days following the night of their hotel stay, or longer for additional fees, with shuttles included. Hotels offering the package include, among many others, the Best Western Airport Executel, Comfort Inn and the Coast Gateway.

Tukwila

If you have a little extra time for shopping before or after flights, the lodging choices in nearby Tukwila put you near the Westfield Southcenter mall. With over 240 stores, it is one of the largest shopping centers in the Pacific Northwest, and it's surrounded by well-known restaurant names like Bahama Breeze and the Rainforest Cafe. Notable properties by the mall, less than five miles from the airport, include the Embassy Suites on West Valley Highway and the Doubletree Guest Suites on Southcenter Parkway. Both provide free hotel shuttle service to Sea-Tac.

Kent

Another option for lodging near Sea-Tac airport is the city of Kent, which gets you closer to popular attractions like the Emerald Downs thoroughbred racetrack and Wild Waves theme park. The Comfort Inn offers free shuttle service to the airport during limited hours and also to locales within three miles of the property. For a little more space, the TownPlace Suites by Marriott has full kitchens and living areas, and its shuttle runs 24 hours a day. Both properties are less than seven miles from the airport.
