A popular vacation destination on Florida’s central Gulf Coast, Sarasota offers visitors not only mild winters and beautiful beaches but also one of the Sunshine State’s most dynamic cultural centers. The city also boasts a wide array of accommodations, including several hotels and motels that lie within a mile of Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Only minutes from center-city Sarasota, airport area lodging is particularly convenient for visitors who just arrived or are set to depart on early-morning flights.

Hampton Inn & Suites Sarasota/Bradenton Airport

Just minutes from the airport terminal, this four-story, 108-unit hotel is also less than a mile from Sarasota’s Ringling museum complex, which encompasses the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art, the Ca d’Zan Mansion and the Circus Museum. Guests who want to stay active can work out in the hotel’s fitness center or swim laps in the heated outdoor swimming pool. The hotel has no on-site restaurant but does serve a complimentary hot breakfast buffet each morning. Several restaurants, including Treviso, Two Chefs’ Casual Dining and Barnacle Bill’s, lie within two miles of the hotel.

Holiday Inn Sarasota-Airport

This six-story, 135-unit hotel, located along the northeastern edge of the airport property, lies less than nine miles from Sarasota’s white-sand beaches on nearby Lido Key. The hotel is also just a short walk from the Sarasota-Bradenton International Convention Center. If you just can’t go anywhere without your pet, the hotel accepts dogs and cats for a per-stay fee of $150 (as of late October 2010). The on-site Sporting News Grill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and diners may choose to enjoy their meals in the restaurant’s dining room or al fresco on an outside terrace. Other hotel facilities and services include business and fitness centers, as well as an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and sauna.

Hyatt Place Sarasota/Bradenton Airport

Guests staying at this three-story, 114-unit airport property are well positioned to explore the attractions of Bradenton, 10 miles to the north, and center-city Sarasota, less than five miles to the south. For those who are on the go, the hotel offers several services designed to help speed things along. Self-service kiosks reduce the hassle of checking in and checking out, while the Hyatt Place Guest Kitchen offers ready-made sandwiches, snacks and salads 24 hours a day. The hotel’s e-room offers access to computers and printers, and the Hyatt Place fitness center is open around the clock.

Residence Inn Sarasota Bradenton

With 78 studio and one-bedroom apartments, this all-suites hotel is an ideal choice for family groups or visitors who are planning an extended stay. All units feature fully equipped kitchens, as well as desk/work areas with high-speed Internet access, both wired and wireless. The hotel has no on-site restaurant but serves up a complimentary hot breakfast buffet each morning and hosts a social hour with free drinks each evening. Pets are welcome for a nonrefundable $75 sanitation fee per stay (as of late October 2010).
