The River Walk is San Antonio's top attraction and also one of the leading tourist attractions in the nation. Restaurants, shops and nightlife line the cobblestone walkways of the San Antonio River, and the Alamo is a five-minute walk away. Travelers looking to visit these downtown attractions do not have to sacrifice comfort for convenience. A handful of luxury hotels are located right on the River Walk, allowing guests to step out of the hotel lobby and immediately into another world.

Hotel Valencia

Hotel Valencia conjures thoughts of romance with its Old World, Spanish-style architecture. The hotel is located directly on the River Walk and offers luxury accommodations. Guests should expect Egyptian cotton linens, 18-foot wood credenzas and premium amenities. Concierge service is available 24 hours a day through a multilingual staff. While hotel patrons are surrounded by River Walk restaurants, the 2010 AAA award-winning Citrus Restaurant and Vbar inside Hotel Valencia rivals many of them, with eclectic candlelit meals in an intimate setting. The hotel also regularly offers specials that cater to couples, girls' weekends and holiday travel.

Omni la Mansion del Rio

The Omni la Mansion del Rio is a part of the Omni family of resorts and hotels. Located directly on the banks of the River Walk, this AAA four-diamond hotel is the recipient of many awards, including a 2010 Conde Nast Traveler recognition as one of the best hotels in the world. The hotel provides guests with access to a Forbes-recognized spa on the other side of the river, as well as a 24-hour fitness center and outdoor pool. Rooms and suites at the Omni la Mansion del Rio feature exposed brick walls, modern technology and oversize furniture. All rooms are outfitted with marble bathrooms, robes and stocked refreshment centers. Dining options are both on the property and within walking distance around it, and local area transfers are available upon request for an additional fee.

Hotel Contessa

Located along the River Walk, Hotel Contessa is a four-diamond award-winning luxury hotel designed with Mediterranean style and historic River Walk nostalgia. Guests of the hotel arrive to valet parking and are quickly directed to their suites where modern conveniences such as flat-screen televisions and sprawling bathrooms await. The common areas of Hotel Contessa feature a towering atrium, 1,700-square-foot Aveda spa and heated rooftop swimming pool.

Hyatt Regency San Antonio

The Hyatt Regency San Antonio offers guests something that other River Walk hotels does not; guests who stay at the hotel are treated to views of the the historic Alamo below, where Texas famously fought for its independence from Mexico. Concierge and room service are just two of the indulgent luxuries that hotel patrons can use. After a long day of shopping along the river, guests can retreat to the Hyatt for quiet poolside rooftop dining or live jazz entertainment at the Landing inside the Hyatt. Other hotel features include a 24-hour fitness center and a luxury day spa inside the hotel atrium.
