Created in 1979, the award-winning plot is one of 130 All-America Rose Selection gardens nationwide. The Fountain Square rose garden is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also located in Citrus Heights is the Rusch Botanical Gardens (7801 Auburn Boulevard), established in 1978. The botanical gardens, open from dawn to dusk, cover two acres and feature various plants including roses, herbs and African varieties.
