Although it's easy to get caught up with all of the stress of wedding planning, a bridal shower is an opportunity to step back and appreciate the love between the couple. Conventionally hosted by a maid of honor or bridesmaid, set the romantic tone of the bridal shower with invitations with a tender story about the couple, poetry, biblical quotes or messages of love.
Include a story about the happy couple as part of your invitation. Write about how they met. For example, say, "Tony and Angela's love blossomed on February 23 near the Depointe Lake after they met for the first time." Another option is to include an anecdote about the couple's relationship, such as "Tony always helped Angela find her lost keys. Little did she know that he had the key to her heart." This type of story personalizes the invitation and reminds guests of the love they are celebrating.
Include a line of poetry or song lyrics at the top of the invitation. This can be the couple's favorite line of poetry or a quote that represents the couple. One example is Helen Keller's quote: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched -- they must be felt with the heart." Another option is William Shakespeare's line, "My bounty is as deep as the sea, my love as deep; the more I give to thee, the more I have, for both are infinite." You can also create your own lines of poetry, such as, "You were there since the first kiss, now they will enter wedded bliss. We request your company, to celebrate their matrimony." Continue the rhyme scheme or switch to prose to complete the invitation.
Weddings should be all about love and celebrating the union of a couple. Model your shower invitations after this concept by using phrases, such as, "We request the honor of your presence to celebrate the bountiful love of John and Mary." or "Love is a special bond that ties two people together forever. Celebrate this union." Follow with a listing of the date, time and location of the event.
If the couple is religious or plan to have their ceremony at a church, use a biblical verse in the bridal shower invitation to make it special. "God, the best maker of all marriages, combine your hearts into one," is a quote from the book of John and fitting for a bridal shower invitation.
Since the invitation is for a "shower," relate this word to a garden theme. One introduction is, "Like a summer rain on a garden full of flowers, join us to shower Angela with love, hope and the tools necessary to nurture her new marriage." Another option is, "Their love blooms as we take the time to wish the happy couple a successful marriage."
