Located 18 miles southwest of Houston in southeastern Texas, Missouri City offers plenty of opportunities for both indoor and outdoor roller skating. Three skating rinks reside within driving distance of the Missouri City limits, and the city's 18 parks provide plenty of warm-weather skating days. If you are considering a private party or just a skate-date night, all three skating rinks provide party accommodations and late-night skates.
Of the 18 parks in the Missouri City area (missouricitytx.gov), Buffalo Run Park is the largest, with 95 acres of recreation, including 1.9 miles of trails for biking, hiking and roller skating. The 10-acre Ridgeview Park offers a half-mile, multipurpose trail that is suited for roller skaters, and the five-acre Hunter's Trail Park and 18-acre Hunter's Glen Park offer access to the Hunters Glen Jogging Trailhead, which provides a 3.25-mile multipurpose trail for bikers, joggers and skaters.
Roller City USA Skating Rink
Located 11 miles northwest of Missouri City, the Roller City USA Skating Rink is part of Houston's New Fun Plex (houstonfunplex.com). At the time of publication, the skating rink is fully renovated with a multiple-speaker sound system, laser-lighting effects and fog machines. Along the walls surrounding the rink, Roller City USA lives up to its name with painted murals of America. The skate rink is open 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Dairy Ashford Roller Rink
The Dairy Ashford Roller Rink (skatedairyashford.com) is approximately 15 miles northwest of Missouri City in Houston. In business since 1974, Dairy Ashford provides a 65-by-180-foot wooden skating rink, a digital-sound music system and strobe lighting. Both inline and roller skates are available for rental. Hours of operation vary throughout the week from Tuesday through Sunday.
Bear Creek Roller Rink
Bear Creek Roller Rink (bearcreekskate.com) is just 20 miles northwest of the city of Missouri City in Houston. The rink offers inline, speed or figure skate rentals during public skate hours, which are Friday through Sunday. At the time of publication, the rink is open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. "Cheap skate" specials are offered during Sunday hours, which are from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
