Milwaukee, also known as the Brew City, is full of different types of places to hold a party. Whether you are throwing a party for a child, an adult, a bachelor or bachelorette, an anniversary couple or any other occasion, you can find a venue that best fits your needs. Venue types include recreation facilities, parks, bars and restaurants.
Children enjoy having parties that involve some form of entertainment for themselves and their friends. Milwaukee offers many types of recreational activities for children. AMF Bowling (amf.com) and Oriental Landmark Lanes (landmarklanes.com) offer bowling parties for children. Children may also enjoy parties at places such as Chuck E. Cheese's (chuckecheese.com), Betty Brinn Children's Museum (bbcm.org), Rollaero Skate Center (rollaero-mke.com) and Altius Gymnastics (altiusgymnastics.com). Many of these venues offer specific birthday party packages that often include party time, a room and activities.
Milwaukee is well-known for its breweries and the resulting beer. Because of the abundance of beer, big-name brewers and micro breweries, you can find bars just about anywhere throughout the city; however, some of them are more interesting for parties. The Safe House (safe-house.com) is a spy-themed bar that requires patrons to either give the password or perform a silly stunt to prove their worth as a spy. However, if you perform a silly stunt, it is important to realize that it is broadcast on television in the bar. At Random (no website; 2501 S Delaware Ave., Milwaukee; 414-481-8030) is a 1970s-themed bar that features both exotic and dessert drinks. The Yester Years Pub and Grill (yesteryearspubandgrill.com) also features food, pool and darts for guests. The Pub offers a large party room that is available to rent.
If a restaurant is more your style for a party, Milwaukee has plenty of those to offer as well. Some of them, such as Brew City Barbeque (brewcitybbq.com), Milwaukee Ale House (ale-house.com) and Rock Bottom Brewery (rockbottom.com), offer a combination of brewery and restaurant to enjoy both good food and good beer in one location. If ethnic food is your preference, hold a party at Il Mito Enoteca (ilmito.com) for Italian food, Bavarian Inn (bavarianinnmilw.com) for German food and Habanero's (habanerosmilwaukee.com) for Mexican food. Some restaurants feature a separate party room, while others accommodate large groups of people in the main dining room.
The Milwaukee County Park system features parks throughout the county that are available for rent or for public use. Boehrner Botanical Gardens in Whitnall Park (county.milwaukee.gov) and the Wehr Nature Center allow you to hold your party out amongst the beauty of nature. Picnic areas are also available for rental at most of the parks within the system, including Grant Park in Cudahy, Brown Deer Park on the north side and Wilson Park on the south side.
Many of the public institutions in the city of Milwaukee are available for parties as well. The Milwaukee County Zoo (milwaukeezoo.org) offers a couple of buildings for rental, as well as the entire zoo after hours. This is a good option for larger events. The Milwaukee Public Museum (mpm.edu) and the Milwaukee Art Museum (mam.org) also offer space for private parties that include admission to the respective institution. The Edelweiss (edelweissboats.com) and Riverwalk Boat Tours (riverwalkboats.com) offer boats for rent that accommodate a smaller party.
