Go-karts represent a relatively safe way for young daredevils to experience speed. Go-kart tracks are designed to allow for competitive and fun racing. Most tracks allow children ages 10 and older to drive the karts and offer single and double seating. Riding go-karts in and around the Rivergate and Nashville area in Tennessee cost less than $10 per ride.
Grand Old Golf, Gameroom ,Go-Karts
Grand Old Golf, Gameroom, Go-Karts (grandoldgolf.net; 2444 Music Valley Drive, Nashville, TN 37214; 615-871 4701) offers a large race track for go-kart riders in middle Tennessee. The site has both single and double cars. It is open year-round and only closes on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Single cars can be occupied only by drivers at least 10 years old and 53 inches tall. Smaller riders may be passengers for drivers 16 years and over. As of 2011, single and double rides are under $10 a trip. Special rates for groups, birthday parties and other events are available.
Cedar Creek Sports Center
Cedar Creek Sports Center (cedarcreeksportscenter.com; 10770 Lebanon Road, Mount Juliet, TN 37122; 615-754-2744) is home to many different activities. In addition to batting cages, bumper boats and golf, guests can ride go-karts. Race on the 1100 feet track either as an Indy or a Rookie driver. Rookie cars are for drivers at least 47 inches tall. Indy cars are for drivers at least 53 inches tall. Rides last five minutes and begin at $5 a ride, as of 2011. Rates are cheaper when multiple rides are purchased. The facility offers group event rates.
Europa Go Karts and Golf
Europa Go Karts and Golf (europagokartsandgolf.com; 621 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville, TN 37209; 615-356-0301) has a 1000 yard track that can race 12 cars at one time. Drivers must be at least 56 inches tall. Children under 56 inches can ride as a passenger with a driver that is at least 16 years of age. Rates, as of 2011, are $6 for five minutes or $10 for 10 minutes.
Go USA Fun Park
Go USA Fun Park (gousafunpark.com; 2270 Armory Dr, Murfreesboro, TN 37129; 615-895-7888) accommodates up to 20 karts on the quarter-mile long track. Rides, as of 2011, cost $6.50 each regardless of whether you ride single or double. It is open seven days a week with extended hours until 1 a.m. on the weekends. The site also has golf, batting cages and arcade games.
