Places to Rent for a Sweet 16 Party in Philadelphia

Whether simply sweet or complete with 16 candles, a 16th birthday is a major milestone in the life of a teenager. Turning 16 can signify the major life changes of getting a driver's license and gaining more independence. For most teenagers, another huge part of turning 16 is celebrating with family and friends at a Sweet 16 birthday party. Teenagers living in or near the city of Philadelphia have a variety of options to choose from to ensure their Sweet 16 is one they will never forget.

Sports Venues

For an athletic teenager, plan a 16th birthday party that centers around sports venues. Whether catching a sporting event at Lincoln Financial Field, Asylum Arena or the Liacouras Center at Temple University, your teenager can celebrate her birthday surrounded by sports. She may even want to partake in a bowling party at Philadelphia's Lucky Strike Lane. With an old Hollywood vibe, Lucky Strike Lane can provide teenagers with a grown-up feeling in their bowling experience.

Nature Centers and Outdoors

Take in the serenity of nature by planning a Sweet 16 party at one of Philadelphia's nature centers or its zoo. Area nature centers include the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, the Wissahickon Environmental Center and the Awbury Arboretum Association. The Philadelphia Zoo has multiple areas to rent, including the Rare Animal Conservation Center and Impala Plaza, the Reptile and Amphibian House, the Zooballoon Plaza, the Treehouse, the First Niagara Big Cat Falls, the PECO Primate Reserve, the Peacock Pavilion and the Solitude.

Water Activities

Take your Sweet 16 party on the water with a cruise on the Spirit of Philadelphia. The Spirit of Philadelphia takes you and your guests on a fun cruise complete with stunning views of Philadelphia's skyline as well as the opportunity for a birthday dance hosted by a DJ. If you would like a party that has more direct interaction with the water, consider kayaking, boating or getting a canoe party together at Nockamixon State Park.

For a teenager who is an aspiring culinary mastermind, having a more intimate Sweet 16 party at one of Philadelphia's restaurants can allow her to experience different cuisines and culinary techniques. Before choosing a restaurant ask your teen what type of cuisine she wants to try. Philadelphia has a variety of eateries, including Italian, seafood, Japanese, American, steakhouses, French, Cuban and Mexican. To experience at least two, have dinner at one restaurant and then take the party to another restaurant or bakery for dessert.
