Bridgeview, Illinois is located in outer suburban Chicago, about 17 miles southwest of the city. There a number of indoor basketball courts within 10 miles of Bridgeview. The gyms usually offer open gym time where you can shoot around or enter a pick-up game. Most of the gyms host summer or fall youth basketball leagues with rates that are cheaper for resident than non-residents.
Pav YMCA
The YMCA is a national organization that offers standard gym memberships, fitness classes, instructional classes and recreational sports leagues. The Pav YMCA, located in Berwyn, about eight miles north of Bridgeview, has a number of indoor basketball courts for pick-up games with various of skill-level players. You can also sign up for a recreational league team. They offer classes for all ages and ensure that character and sportsmanship come before competitiveness and winning. The summer youth basketball camp prices range from $24 to $39 for the six-week session, as of July 2011.
Chicago Ridge Park District
The Chicago Ridge Park District is located in Chicago Ridge, about five miles south of Bridgeview. The park offers many opportunities for recreation, such as a kids' area called "The Lily Pad," a teen center and a field house that contains two basketball courts, volleyball courts and a walking track. The facility also houses workout and cardio equipment. Usage fees for the courts, as of July 2011, range from $1, 13 years and under to $12, non-residents 14 years and older.
The Athlete Within Basketball School
The Athlete Within Basketball School is located in McCook, about seven miles south of Bridgeview. This organization facilitates summer basketball camps with the philosophy that learning basketball in a structured manner can help kids with personal skills in life. The organization also aims to instill a sense of teamwork and responsibility in the players. Instruction ranges from $400 to $1,000 as of July 2011, depending on the level of instruction and number of workouts.
Crestwood Recreational Wellness Center
Crestwood Recreational Wellness Center is in Crestwood, about eight miles south of Bridgeview. The center boasts two full-size indoor basketball courts, volleyball courts, a pool and a comprehensive fitness and weightlifiting center. The basketball court is available to all ages. The center hosts basketball youth leagues during the fall that are divided by age group. The rates are in the mid-$70 range, as of July 2011, depending if your residency status. The center also has open gym times year-round.
