Places to Give a Baby Shower in Flint, Michigan

by Andrew Napoli, Demand Media

Some would say that the birth of a child is the most wondrous experience a mother can have. To celebrate this miraculous occasion, family and friends gather together to honor the mother-to-be with a party and shower her with gifts. The gifts given at a baby shower are usually items that the mother will use for her newborn, such as clothes or toys. The parties are sometimes held in the home of a relative or friend, but one way to add to the fun of the baby shower is to find a memorable location.

    Flint Children's Museum

Although children do not often attend a baby shower, there are times when the presence of children is necessary. When that is the case, the Flint Children's Museum (flintchildrensmuseum.org) is a good option for the baby shower venue. Private rooms that accommodate up to 60 people are available for hourly rental at a rate of $25 as of the publication of this article. It is also possible to rent the entire museum during off-hours for parties of up to 250 people.

    IMA Recreation Association

The IMA Recreation Association (imarecreation.org) has three possible venues for a baby shower. The IMA Brookwood Golf & Banquet Center can accommodate up to 600 people, offering meeting rooms for smaller parties and a variety of banquet-style food options. The IMA of Flint Ballenger Park can host a picnic-style shower in its pavilion. All park amenities are available for the party, but you'll need to bring your own food and decorations. IMA of Memorial Park is an outdoor park option that also offers an indoor rental space that holds up to 75 people.

    Genesee County Parks

Genesee County Parks (geneseecountyparks.org) offers a variety of locations to hold a baby shower. Flushing County Park, Richfield County Park, Splash Pad Spray Ground at Bluebell Beach, Buell Lake Park, Linden County Park, and Davison Roadside Park have pavilions that can accommodate parties of varying sizes.

    University of Michigan-Flint

The University of Michigan-Flint (umflint.edu) offers many room choices for rent in various campus buildings that can accommodate nearly any size party. Room rentals are blocked in four-hour time periods. U of M offers tables, chairs, a podium and a sound system. Bring your own food or hire an outside caterer for your baby shower.
