Places in Fargo, North Dakota, for Teens to Have Their Birthday Party

by Nicole Brown

Fargo, North Dakota, is home to North Dakota State University and is known for its cold winter weather. The city is relatively small, but it boasts plenty of locations to host a party, including venues for your teen's next birthday celebration. Whether teens want something custom and formal or laid-back and casual, Fargo has plenty of venues to suit their needs.

A Custom Event

If you want someone to do all the hard work for you, plan your teen's next birthday at the Avalon Events Center (fargoavalon.com). The Avalon will create a custom event for your teenager's sweet 16 or other important birthday milestone. The Avalon was built in 1908 and evokes a classic yet modern feel. Choose from one of the Avalon's smaller rooms that seat 10 to 30 guests or the grand ballroom, which seats up to 200 guests for a large event. The grand ballroom is an ideal location to set up a dancefloor and tables for teens to dance the night away.

Bowl the Night Away

Bowling is something most teens love to do and you don't have to worry about battling the cold Fargo weather. Book a party at Stars and Strikes Bowling (starsandstrikesbowl.com) during Electra Bowl on Friday and Saturday nights. Teens will enjoy bowling in the dark among glowing pins and bowling balls. Stars and Strikes has homemade pizza and a snack bar to tame their hungry appetites as well. Parties can be done laneside or in a party room adjacent to the bowling lanes. West Acres Bowl (westacresbowl.com) is a second venue for bowling in Fargo. Teens can bowl during cosmic bowling nights on Fridays and Saturdays (the alley requires a minimum of 32 bowlers to host cosmic bowling night, so if you plan on having a bowling party, call ahead). West Acres also offers birthday packages that include a lane, shoe rentals and a party room.

Sports and Entertainment

If you have a group of sports- and action-minded teens, these two locations are the perfect choice. You can get a group of golfers (or wanna-be golfers) together for a party at the Sports Bubble (thesportsbubble.com), Fargo's indoor golf and sports facility. When you book a party at the Sports Bubble, guests get to play a round of miniature golf, hit golf balls on the driving range and play organized games of football, soccer or softball, followed by pizza, burgers and refreshments in the sports bubble party room. There's also Thunder Road Family Fun Park (thunderroadfargo.com), which is ideal for birthdays during the spring and summer months because most of the park's activities are outdoors. Teens will enjoy the park's bumper cars, go-karts, batting cages and miniature golf. Groups are welcome hosted or unhosted, but the park does have a large facility to host a party. Party packages at Thunder Road include admission to the park's attractions, reserved party seating and beverages for all of the guests.

Use Your Creativity

Clay Your Way (clayyourway.com) is the perfect place to take a group of teenage girls to be creative and use their imagination to create their own pottery and fused glass. Choose a painting party or a glass fusing party. During a party, each guest will be able to choose her own piece of bisque to paint or design a plaque using glass pieces that are fused together after completion. Clay Your Way provides a separate party room to celebrate with food and gifts after projects have been completed. Clay Your Way does not include food and refreshments in their party packages, but guests are encouraged to bring their own.
