Tampa, midway down the Florida Gulf Coast, is a sports fan's paradise, with professional football, baseball and ice hockey, and semi-pro baseball as well as the New York Yankees in spring training all drawing the crowds. Add to this the attractions of the Tampa Bay, Clearwater and St. Petersburg beaches, plus theme park attractions such as Busch Gardens and the Lowry Park Zoo, and you have a major family vacation destination. Where families go nowadays, the family pet often follows. The challenge in Tampa is in finding affordable, truly pet-friendly accommodations. Pet fees are as of December 2010.

Shuttle service for a fee is available to the Port of Tampa and Busch Gardens. Up to two pets per room can stay for a one-time fee of $25.

The Super 8 in Tampa is an exterior corridor motel with drive-up access to most rooms. The motel has an outdoor swimming pool open year-round. Some upgraded rooms have microwaves and fridges, and a complimentary breakfast is included with all rooms. One of this motel's main attractions is its access to major routes for touring Tampa. It's near entrances to both I-275 and I-75. The Super 8 allows pets in designated pet-friendly rooms for a fee of $10 per pet per night. Guests wanting to make use of this facility need to book pet-friendly rooms in advance by calling 1-800-800-8000.
