Round Rock is called Texas’ sports capital, with plenty of family-friendly activities and entertainment on and off the field -- and by family, that means your four-legged friend, too. Be sure to treat your pup to a romp in the Round Rock Dog Depot, a 1.85-acre, leash-free park decked out with open play space and agility areas with a tire jump, tunnel and A-frame contact ramp. La Quinta Inn & Suites

Your pet is welcome free of charge at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Austin-Round Rock -- just advise the hotel when making your reservation. Rooms are modestly decorated with a buttercream, burgundy and forest green color palette. The hotel has an outdoor pool and a full fitness center. The La Quinta signature Bright Side Breakfast with muffins, fruit, waffles, cereal, coffee and juice is served in a lobby lounge daily. The hotel grounds are tree-lined for strolling with your pet — don’t forget your baggies.

Residence Inn

Just steps from Dell world headquarters, the Residence Inn Austin-Round Rock is a top pick among long-term family and business travelers for its spacious studio, one- and two-bedroom suites. Your pet is welcome for a one-time $100 sanitation charge. Guest quarters have all the comforts of home, like a full kitchen and separate areas for work, sleep and dining. Vibrant-colored rooms are energizing in shades of crisp khaki and cherry red. You can enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast each morning and a light dinner buffet on weeknights. The pool area features a kiddie pool and whirlpool.

SpringHill Suites

The SpringHill Suites Austin-Round Rock is near the University of Texas and is part of the Marriott hotel family. Your pet can join you for a one-time $75 sanitation fee. Rooms are equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave and full-sized sleeper sofa, and decorated in contemporary style with various shades of greens and blues. Each morning, the hotel offers a complimentary breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, coffee, fruit juices and waffles. An on-site business center is available for using the Internet or making copies. Tee off at one of two 18-hole golf courses less than 5 miles away.

Staybridge Suites

The Staybridge Suites Austin-Round Rock near the Roundrock Premium Outlet Mall permits pets up to 80 lbs. for as long as a week for $75, and seven or more nights for $150, with a signed pet agreement. The hotel was renovated in 2009 and its striking slate façade matches the slate-surrounded lobby fireplace. Rooms have a country-style decor with plaid draperies, wood furniture and sofas upholstered in green and beige tones. Amenities include fitness and business centers and a spacious outdoor pool.
