If you want to bring your pets to Orlando, you're in luck. This top tourist destination offers a variety of pet-friendly accommodations. Note that pets are not allowed in any of the official Disney World Resort hotels, and you'll have to leave your furry travel companions behind when you visit the major theme parks; pets are not allowed in Disney World, Sea World or Universal Orlando. However, there are several dog-friendly parks in the city, including Lake Eola Park, Dr. Phillips Dog Park, Baldwin Park, Meadow Woods Dog Park and Avalon Dog Park, where your pets can romp and play.

Loews Portofino Bay Hotel & Loews Royal Pacific Hotel

The two Loews hotel properties within the Universal Orlando resort throw out a big welcome mat for your furry companions. Upon checking in, your pets will receive a goodie bag containing treats and a special, temporary identification tag. Pet-friendly rooms are equipped with water and food bowls and pet sleeping beds. Scratching posts and litter boxes are also available. The Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, which features an Italian-inspired theme, has 750 rooms, three swimming pools, eight restaurants, a fitness center and spa. The Loews Royal Pacific Hotel, decorated in a South Seas motif, has 1,000 rooms, a lagoon-style swimming pool, fitness center, and a variety of restaurants and lounges. Concierges at both hotels have brochures for pet owners, listing local veterinarians, grooming salons and pet sitting services. Suggested pet walking routes are also listed.

Rosen Inn

This high-rise hotel, with 315 rooms, welcomes pets under 50 lbs. The pet-friendly rooms are located on the exterior of the building for easier in-and-out access. The hotel, located footsteps from the Pointe Orlando entertainment complex and across the street from the Wet & Wild water park , charges $10 per pet, per day. The hotel has a swimming pool and free shuttle service to Sea World and Universal Orlando; each room comes equipped with a mini refrigerator and microwave. Guests receive a special "Pet in the Room" door sign upon check-in.

Sheraton Safari Hotel

Your animals may feel right at home in the jungle-themed hotel, complete with animal prints, jungle noises and an African safari motif. Animals up to 80 lbs. are accepted, and there are no extra fees or deposits required. The 393-room hotel is on bustling International Drive (your dog may enjoy a walk along this lively boulevard), less than half a mile from the Disney World resort entrance. The swimming pool features a 79-foot python-shaped waterslide, which your kids may enjoy; pets, however, are not allowed in the pool area. The hotel also has 90 safari suites.

La Quinta Inn Orlando Airport North

You'll pay no fees or deposits for your pets at this inn near the Orlando Airport. Pets up to 50 lbs. are welcome. Sea World is 10 miles away, Universal Orlando is 15 miles, and Disney World resort is 20 miles from this hotel. There's a courtyard where leashed pets can hang out, and City Park is next door, where you can also walk pets on a leash.
