Jackson, the "City with Soul" is Mississippi’s capital and largest metro area. It's a destination for entertainment, dining, family vacations and year-round events. There's plenty of outdoor area for spending time with your pet: LeFleur's Bluff State Park and Holly Springs National Forest in Jackson and the Cypress Swamp less than 13 miles northeast in Madison. Davis Planetarium and the Mississippi Museum of Art. The PetSmart located on I-55 just six miles from Jackson and eight miles from Pearl, offers veterinary and grooming services along with any items you might have forgotten at home.

The Residence Inn Jackson Ridgeland offers a pet-friendly option ideal for business or long-term travelers 10 miles north of Jackson in Ridgeland. For a flat $75 sanitation fee (as of November 2010), you can bring your furry family member to enjoy home-style lodging with spacious, separate areas for cooking, working, eating, sleeping and enjoying music or TV. Studio, one- and two-bedroom suites are sharply designed with bold brick and lime colored furnishings. Three Sonic drive-in restaurants within a two-mile radius on Highway 51 North, Ridgewood Road and East County Line welcome your pet on the outdoor patio.
