Pet Friendly Lodging Along Florida's Gulf Coast

by Nannie Kate

Florida's gulf coastal areas run across the panhandle and down the west side of the peninsula. The hub of panhandle activity falls around cities like Pensacola and Panama City Beach. On the west coast, it's the Tampa-Clearwater area in the center and Key West farther south. Some of the hotels in these gulf coast cities welcome your pet, allowing you to bring it along to one of these active vacation spots. Special rules may apply and you may be asked for an extra fee up front.

Paradise Inn Pensacola Beach

In the gulf coast city of Pensacola Beach, Paradise Inn is a pet-friendly hotel that offers spacious guestrooms and an outdoor swimming pool. Breakfast is complimentary at the hotel or, if you're in the mood for something more extravagent, the nearby Native Café is where you can feast on eggs benedict, steak and eggs or a Big Beach Omelet. Nearby Sidelines Sports Bar lets you keep up with the teams over a beverage and light meal. Take your pooch to Gulf Breeze Bark Park to socialize with other dogs

La Quinta Inns and Suites Panama City Beach Pier Park

La Quinta Inns and Suites Panama City Beach Pier Park offers guests and their pets roomy suites just two miles from the shopping and entertainment venue, Pier Park. Wake up to the complimentary Bright Side Breakfast or visit Mike's Diner and choose your breakfast from an extensive menu of omelets, pancakes, waffles, eggs any style, bacon, sausage and even cheese grits. For lunch try the seafood baskets or plate specials. Have dinner at Pasta Grill and Seafood Restaurant and enjoy the seafood pastas and steaks.

Chart House Suites

The Chart House Suites sit on Clearwater Bay, on the back side of the barrier island beaches, which you can access in just minutes. A select few of the units at the Chart House accept your pet. The guestrooms at Chart House Suites have microwave ovens and mini refrigerators, while the suites have a standard kitchen and there is an outdoor pool. About 15 miles north of the Chart House, Honeymoon Island State Park allows your dog to enter certain areas as long as it is kept on a leash of 6 feet or less. The lower rim of the island is designated Pet Beach.

Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa

Fronting on the Gulf side of Key West, the Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa welcomes up to three pets. The guestrooms at the Hyatt are spacious, with some rooms set aside for smokers. Slip into the SHOR restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
