Party Places in Phoenix for an Infant's Birthday

by Kimberly Dyke

You have made it through that first year of sleepless nights, first teeth and maybe even first steps. Celebrate one more "first" with a birthday party to remember for your little one. The Phoenix, Arizona, area features four celebration venues that would be perfect for most any child's very first birthday.

Makutu's Island

Makutu's Island (makutusisland.com) is an indoor playground for kids and adults alike that covers 20,000 square feet. The play land features a banana tree with tunnels and slides, a blue fantasy tree and the pirates cove aquarium. Birthday party packages are available and take place in one of six party rooms. Online reservations are accepted, and Makutu's Island provides party invitations and thank you cards.

Children's Museum of Phoenix

The Children's Museum of Phoenix (childrensmuseumofphoenix.org) is a haven for children of all ages to experience, learn and grow by means of interactive exhibits and activities. The museum offers three separate birthday packages that include admission, invitations, party room and a gift for the birthday child. Additional options include pizza, juice boxes and paper products. Outside food is allowed at your party. Children's Museum of Phoenix also offers interactive experiences such as Brain Time for Babies and Brain Time for Toddlers, featuring stories, songs and playtime with parents using educational toys.

Nutin But Fun

Nutin But Fun (no website; 13343 W. Foxfire Dr., Ste. 3, Surprise; 623-556-5865) is a 5,000 square feet inflatable jump warehouse for the entire family. The venue features several open jump sessions per week when anyone can come to jump, along with birthday packages. Parents are required to sign a waiver for their little ones to jump, and jumpers are required to wear socks. Toddler Town is a hit with the little ones, and the giant slide is exciting for all ages.

The Little Gym

Your little one will love celebrating his birthday at The Little Gym (tlgahwatukeeaz.com.) The venue reserves the entire gym for its birthday parties and guests participate in games, music and activities geared toward your child's age and ability. Little Gym instructors handle all of the party details, including set-up and cleaning up, allowing mom and dad to focus on the birthday child and simply enjoy the party.
