Oregon Coast Oceanfront Hotels

by Pamela Wright

The Oregon coast stretches more than 350 miles -- from the mouth of the Columbia River south to the border of California. There are plenty of public beaches and natural areas to visit, including the Beaver Creek State Natural Area, Cape Blanco State Park and the Agate Beach State Recreation Site. However, if you're looking for waterfront accommodations, you'll find them in major cities along the coast, like Cannon Beach, Newport Beach, Lincoln City and Seaside.

what is a fallback

Seaside hotels

This resort town on the North Coast, 90 minutes from Portland, has a handful of oceanfront hotels. The five-story Best Western Ocean View Resort has waterfront and water view rooms with kitchenettes; some have fireplaces. The beach is at your doorstep and downtown Seaside, with a host of restaurants and shops, is within walking distance. The Inn at the Shore Hotel sits at the south end of Seaside's Promenade pedestrian boulevard. The hotel has 18 oceanfront rooms with private terraces or balconies and gas fireplaces.

Cannon Beach hotels

Cannon Beach, just south of Seaside, has a cluster of galleries, shops, restaurants and cafes, and a long stretch of beach. The Waves, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, has one-, two- and three-bedroom suites, with full kitchens and private balconies which feature views of the ocean and the Tillamook Lighthouse. The Ocean Lodge sits at the south end of Cannon Beach, overlooking white sands and pounding surf. All rooms have refrigerators, microwaves and gas fireplaces; some rooms have whirlpool tubs. The lobby has a large stone fireplace and the hotel also has a library room with books, magazines, games and a selection of DVD movies to borrow.

Lincoln City hotels

The Starfish Manor Oceanfront Hotel in Lincoln City is an oceanfront boutique property. The hotel has 17 suites with kitchenettes, whirlpool tubs, fireplaces and private decks. Some suites include private hot tubs overlooking the beach and the Pacific Ocean. Rooms at the Best Western Lincoln Sands Suites come with a full kitchen, separate living areas and bedrooms, and ocean views. Some rooms have private balconies. The hotel, located on the beach, is about two miles from the Chinook Winds Casino.

Newport Beach hotels

The 158-room Hallmark Resort in Newport Beach sits at the edge of Pacific Ocean. All rooms face the water with balconies, and have mini refrigerators and microwaves; some have whirlpool tubs and fireplaces. The resort also has an indoor salt water pool, fitness room and spa. The oceanfront Best Western Agate Beach Inn in Newport Beach overlooks the beach and Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Rooms with two queen or one king-sized bed come with microwaves and mini refrigerators. The hotel also has Titanic-themed kids suites.
