If you're an avid camper, Halloween weekend is the perfect time of year to visit one of the many local campgrounds in Ohio that offer superb and sometimes spooky Halloween festivities for adults and kids alike. Go prepared with an RV fully stocked with Halloween supplies, costumes and candy so you have everything you need for a thrilling holiday weekend.

    Natural Springs Resort

Natural Springs Resort, located in New Paris, Ohio, offers nearly an entire month of spooky good times for the family. Start the weekend off right by decorating your campsite in true Halloween style. String orange lights, play scary music and decorate your pumpkins. Prizes will be awarded for the campsite decorated in the most festive manner and for the pumpkin with the most pizazz. Bring along the family costumes for the costume contest and to go trick-or-treating throughout the campground.

    Cedarbrook Campground

Visit Cedarbrook Campground, in Lebanon, Ohio, near the Kings Island amusement park, for a fun, family Halloween adventure. Partake in old-fashioned Halloween activities, such as pumpkin carving and a scavenger hunt. Grab the kids and jump on the wagon for a hayride throughout the campground. Enter your family and even your pet in the annual costume contest. Visit the haunted house for a few screams and a spine-chilling good time. Take the kids to play family-friendly carnival games and jump in the bounce house.

    Happy Hills

The beautiful backdrop of the Hocking Hills area in southeastern Ohio is home to the Happy Hills campground, which boasts three weekends of Halloween fun. Decorate your camp site with Halloween novelties and you might win the site decorating contest. Send the kids off trick-or-treating throughout the campground. Play bingo, decorate your pumpkins and watch the evening movie. Visit the haunted forest for a little bit of hauntingly good fun.

    Ohio State Parks

Ohio's system of state parks are one of the best kept secrets in the state. They offer amazing deals and fun Halloween weekends at many locations. Travel to Mohican State Park, located near Loudenville, and find something for every ghoul and goblin you're traveling with. Decorate your camp site and send the kids trick-or-treating throughout the park. Mohican State Park offers seasonal crafts specific to the Halloween season. East Harbor State Park, located near Lake Erie, offers Halloween activities such hayrides and haunted houses.
