Oceanfront Hotels With Kitchenettes in Virginia Beach, Virginia

by Andrea Whyte

Virginia Beach offers a wide range of oceanfront accommodation, from budget seaside motels to the Hilton's new luxury resort. While there are many great dining options in these hotels or along the famous Boardwalk, some might prefer to have the conveniences of a kitchenette in their rooms, especially those traveling with children who want to keep a few snacks on hand.

Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront

The Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront, opened in 2005, defines luxury in Virginia Beach. With three restaurants, two bars and close proximity to the Boardwalk, one might hardly expect to dine in their room but kitchenettes, including a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, may be found in the expansive Parlor Suites. The Suites also feature a Murphy bed, sofa and wet bar, as well as oceanfront views. The Hilton suites with a kitchenette may appeal to families or business travelers on a longer term stay. Other amenities at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront include a rooftop infinity pool and bar, an indoor pool, a large fitness center and spa services. The oceanfront location of the Hilton allows the hotel to provide such beach activities as a beach playground for children, a five mile bike trail and bicycle rentals, beach volleyball and plenty of opportunities to work on your tan.

Courtyard by Marriott Oceanview Resort

The Courtyard comes with a slightly lower price tag than the Hilton but does not sacrifice on comfort or location. The Courtyard's ocean view rooms overlook the Boardwalk and beach and the hotel may particularly appeal to families on vacation. The Courtyard's eight large suites feature small kitchenettes, including a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The hotel also offers a casual bistro and bar, suitable for family dining, as well as a concierge to direct you to one of the many restaurants that dot Virginia Beach. For entertainment, the Courtyard is home to the largest outdoor pool on the oceanfront, complete with waterfalls, bridges and a lifeguard on duty for the kids, as well as a poolside bar for the adults. An indoor pool, whirlpool and fitness center are also available for chillier days.

Belvedere Resort Motel

Highly recommended by Frommer's Travel Guide as the best of the inexpensive Virginia Beach oceanfront accommodation options, the Belvedere Resort Motel is a small, family-owned hotel designed for the traveler who wants to really take advantage of their location. The Belvedere's motel style rooms feature private oceanfront balconies and double or king beds. Ten larger suites provide guests with kitchenettes, including a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. These rooms may particularly appeal to Belvedere guests, as the motel does not have a restaurant, though it does offer a coffee shop. Outdoor activities include complimentary bike rental, a swimming pool and a sun deck. The Belvedere is suitable for families or other budget travelers wanting to explore Virginia Beach in a casual oceanfront atmosphere without sacrificing on comforts.

Newcastle Motel

The Newcastle Motel may appeal particularly to couples looking for a romantic weekend or honeymoon on a budget. Situated on the oceanfront, all of the Newcastle's rooms feature private balconies with a view of the beach. All rooms in the Newcastle contain kitchenettes, including a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, while two large suites contain full kitchens, suitable for families on holiday. The Newcastle creates a romantic atmosphere through outfitting every room with a two-person whirlpool tub, while some rooms contain fireplaces, canopy beds and double occupancy showers. The Newcastle does offer on-site dining options through its seasonal Lighthouse Restaurant. Other amenities include an indoor pool, small fitness facility, complimentary wireless Internet and bike rentals.
