NYC Imax Theaters

IMAX is a format of motion pictures playable only in IMAX theaters (imax.com). The quality of IMAX films is better than the standard format used in most major movie theaters. IMAX theaters are small in numbers when compared to the amount of standard-format movie theaters in the United States. As of 2011, there are over 500 IMAX theaters around the world showing current feature films and documentaries. Six are located in New York City.

AMC Loews 34th Street

The AMC Loews located on 34th Street is seven blocks south of the 42nd St. Port Authority bus terminal and the Times Square Theater District. The theater is across the street from Penn Station. The address is 312 W. 34th St., New York, NY 10001.

AMC Loews Kips Bay

The AMC Loews Kips Bay location is found at the Kips Bay Towers. It is two blocks west of Windsor Court and three blocks away from Vartan Park, south of the curve of the Queens Midtown Tunnel. The address is 570 Second Ave.

AMC Empire

The AMC Empire theater is located south of Central Park, in the heart of the Times Square Theater District. The theater sits on 42nd Street, halfway between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue. The address is 234 W. 42nd St.

AMC Loews Lincoln Square

Among the glitz and glamor of the world famous Broadway shows lies the AMC Loews Lincoln Square theater. You can find the theater at 1998 Broadway. It is south of Sherman Square, near the Julliard Store.

Samuel J. and Ethel LeFrak Theater

The Samuel J. and Ethel LeFrak Theater is located inside of the American Museum of Natural History. The museum is located at the west end of Central Park, near the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. The address is 200 Central Park West.

Regal Sheepshead Bay Stadium 14 & IMAX

The Regal Sheepshead Bay Stadium theater in Brooklyn has an IMAX theater. The theater is located near the intersection of Knapp St. and Shore Parkway. The address is 3907 Shore Parkway, Brooklyn.
