Only a select few hotels around Niagara Falls offer real estate right along the waterfront, providing dazzling views from guest rooms, restaurants and manicured courtyards. These hotels feature high-end amenities, customized services and convenient access to the falls themselves as well as other local points of interest. Prices are usually a bit higher than properties situated more inland, but the difference may well be worth it for travelers who want to be closer to the action.

Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls - Fallsview Hotel

The Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls, built in 1927, is an AAA- and CAA-rated three-diamond property offering direct indoor connections to both Casino Niagara and the Falls Indoor Waterpark. The former features 1,700 slot and video poker machines along with table games like blackjack and Texas Hold ‘Em, while the latter consists of 16 water slides, an activity pool, a wave pool and a vast outdoor sundeck. An on-site, full-service spa includes a fitness center and treatments ranging from Swedish massages to herbal body wraps and French manicures. The premises boasts 12 function rooms for events or meetings, with a combined capacity of almost 1,600 people. Numerous hotel dining options include a penthouse restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows and an 80-foot buffet; Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe; Starbucks; a bakery and a rainforest-themed eatery with a 6,000-gallon shark tank. Guests can choose between rooms with one double, one king or two double beds, all with duvet covers. In-room amenities include cozy sitting areas, pay-per-view movies and Nintendo video games.

Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls

Three high-speed glass elevators quickly rise to the building's 14 stories, with a private waterfall observation deck on the top floor. Two on-site restaurants, Perkins and Applebee's, offer American family-style dining, while a complimentary shuttle bus takes guests to the slightly classier Remington's of Niagara Steak & Seafood just off-site. Each guest room is furnished with one king, two queen or two double beds along with satellite TV and a work desk. All rooms are non-smoking. Connecting rooms and whirlpool suites are available upon request.

The AAA-rated four-diamond hotel has an indoor pool and workout gym, a galleria with dozens of boutique shops, and more than 250 live performances a year. The spa's treatments include hot-stone massage therapy and rose petal body wraps. Extensive on-site meal options include a steak-and-seafood restaurant, an Italian bistro, a Chinese restaurant with sushi bar, a grand buffet, a deli and three cocktail lounges and bars. Deluxe room accommodations offer views of the Canadian and American Falls or the city of Niagara Falls itself, while guests can make use of a flat-panel TV, an in-room safe and broadband connection.

Hilton Hotel and Suites Niagara Falls/Fallsview

The Hilton Hotel and Suites Niagara Falls/Fallsview underwent a multimillion-dollar expansion in 2009, adding 500 suites through a brand-new 53-story tower that ranks as the tallest hotel in Canada. Property amenities include a swimming pool and gift shops. The hotel offers valet service, free motor coach parking, weekend fireworks shows and a local area shuttle service for a small additional charge. A glass-enclosed walkway connects the hotel to the Fallsview Casino Resort. For corporate travelers, the business center provides multiple computer workstations, printers and a copier as well as 12,000 square feet of conference facilities and professional catering services. The Hilton offers four on-site dining options: a Brazilian steakhouse; an Italian-style grill; a breakfast buffet with omelet bar; and the signature Watermark Restaurant, featuring vaulted ceilings, two aquariums and 18-foot windows overlooking the falls.
