New Orleans, Louisiana Airport Hotels

by Meg Jernigan

New Orleans’ Louis Armstrong International Airport, located to the west of the city in Kenner, is just off the very busy Interstate 10. Hotels and motels line the interstate and nearby Williams Boulevard. Driving in the area can be difficult but each of these hotels has a secure, free parking lot.

Hilton New Orleans Airport

The Hilton is one of the few hotels located on Airline Drive near the entrance to the airport. Large rooms, decorated in earth tones and cherry wood have bathrooms outfitted with Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. The hotel’s restaurant serves a breakfast buffet and a sports bar serves light fare and drinks. Expect to hear some jet noise if you have a room facing the airport. Hilton provides complimentary on demand shuttle service to the airport terminals.

Crowne Plaza Hotel

Crowne Plaza, renovated in 2008, is near the Interstate 10 Williams Boulevard interchange a mile from the airport entrance. The fitness center with whirlpool is open 24 hours a day and the outdoor saltwater pool is open year round. Executive level guests have access to a private lounge with complimentary continental breakfast and an evening cocktail hour. The hotel’s restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Crowne Plaza provides free shuttle service to the airport.

Radisson Hotel

The Radisson, in the same general area as the Crowne Plaza, provides free Wi-Fi service throughout the hotel. The outdoor pool is open year round and a poolside tiki bar is open seasonally. Rooms and suites are equipped with Sleep Number beds and guests on the Plaza Club level receive free breakfast buffet and an evening cocktail. Creole influenced cuisine is on the menu at the Radisson’s restaurant and the hotel offers extended room service hours. The hotel’s complimentary airport shuttle operates 24-hours a day.

Country Inn & Suites

Country Inn & Suites is located on Veterans Memorial Boulevard about a mile and a half from the airport entrance. The hotel participates in the Carlson chain’s Read it & Return lending library program. Pillow top beds are standard in guest rooms, studio suites and one-bedroom suites and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Aviation junkies might enjoy one of the rooms facing the runway where planes take off and land directly over the hotel. The free airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes.
