New England Resorts With Ballroom Dancing

Ballroom dancing is popular in New England; the area is also a wonderful venue for outside sports. Resorts with ballrooms often have other amenities that make them attractive destinations. If you want a getaway that combines ballroom dancing and other activities, you should be able to find a resort that's just the right fit.

    Dancing and Beachcombing

Nestled on the beach, Samoset Resort in Maine has two beautiful ballrooms, the Bay Point Ballroom and the Knox County Ballroom. It offers a romantic setting where guests can stroll through nearby seaside villages. The Bay Point is decorated with Wyeth family artwork. It can be reserved for weddings, but only accommodates up to 125 people. The Knox Ballroom accommodates up to 300, and has crystal chandeliers and wall sconces.

    Dancing and Golfing

Lake Morey Resort's Terrace Ballroom in Fairlee, Vermont, is a spacious room with a full bar and picture windows overlooking the lake. It is also home to the Vermont Open, and features an 18-hole golf course to enjoy after a night of ballroom dancing. The ballroom accommodates up to 250 people. It is connected to the Terrace Patio and a view of fairways lined with spruce trees.

    Dancing at your Wedding

Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis, Massachusetts, has a wedding package that includes a night in the resort's two-story presidential suite. Its ballroom holds up to 500 guests; the Crystal Room where receptions are held holds 50 people. Couples staying at the resort enjoy their accommodations with hors d'oeuvres, dinner, a dessert buffet and a midnight champagne toast. Other suites at the resort are perfect for wedding anniversaries or honeymoons, and feature fireplaces and spa tubs.

    Dancing and Skiing

Besides the ballroom, part of the lure of the Balsams Grand Resort Hotel in New Hampshire is the skiing. The resort has special events in which guests sometimes receive complimentary Alpine and Nordic ski passes. The hotel's Switzerland of America Ballroom hosts morning lessons in ballroom dancing so everyone can enjoy a night of music and ballroom dancing. Guests are also treated to wine and cheese receptions, buffet breakfasts in the morning and grand buffets in the evening.

    Dancing and Children's Activities

If you're bringing your children with you on a vacation of ballroom dancing, Purity Spring Resort has fun activities that focus on children. It boasts the largest ballroom in Mount Washington Valley. Guests enjoy an entire weekend of ballroom dance lessons a few times a year. The East Madison, New Hampshire, resort offers many packages, including outdoor activities for children to get involved in with other children. Dining options include breakfast cookouts and lobster bakes.
