Myrtle Beach Hotels with a Water Park

by Nannie Kate

Tourists come to Myrtle Beach for the sun and sand, but they also come for the attractions. The Sourth Carolina destination has theaters, eateries and shopping opportunities for the visitor seeking things to do, and one of the favorites among the younger set are the water parks. Most are easy to access, but it's even easier for your kids to spend the day on water slides, lazy rivers and wave pools when they are located inside your resort. Myrtle Beach has a few resorts with on-site water parks.

Dunes Village Resort

Drift down the long lazy river at the Dunes Village Resort, sample the many water slides, play water basketball or water volleyball and simply swim. Let your smaller children enjoy the kiddie-sized versions. For your stay at Dunes you can choose a studio up to four bedrooms. All units are suites with full kitchens and some of them include in-room whirlpool jetted tubs. If you like fondue, have dinner at the Melting Pot where you have a choice of cheese fondues as a starter, an entree fondue of choice, and a chocolate fondue finale. Have breakfast, lunch or dinner at Friendly's Restaurant or opt for an ice cream treat.

Landmark Resort

Pool play is year-round with indoor and outdoor pools at the Landmark Resort. You will have use of two lazy rivers, a lap pool, several jetted whirlpools, a child's play area and a wading pool. The indoor pool is centered around a large fountain, and the hotel also has a mini-golf course. Have breakfast or dinner in the Gazebo Restaurant and pick up sandwiches at the Pub Lounge. The pool bar serves pizza and other snacks. For a romantic dinner and plenty of atmosphere, eat at Villa Romano where breads and pastas are homemade. Family-friendly IHOP, also nearby, serves breakfast items all day long.

Ocean Reef Resort

The Ocean Reef Resort's indoor and outdoor water park offers rain showers, waterfalls, a lazy river, a shallow kiddie pool and standard swimming pool. Accommodations range from standard rooms to four-bedroom suites or condos. Some of the rooms have a microwave oven and mini refrigerator, while others have kitchenettes with small appliances or full kitchens with standard-sized appliances. Breakfast is served at Cafe du Pont in the resort. Try Martin's Restaurant for wienerschnitzel, veal piccata, roast duck, steaks, lobster thermidore and various fish dishes.

Breakers Resort

The oceanfront resort Breakers has indoor and outdoor water parks, complete with jetted whirlpools and a lazy river that passes through a pirate ship. Rooms range from standard to three bedrooms with some units providing full kitchens. The Breakers makes sure your kids are entertained with the Breaker's Kids' Club, where they play games and learn new crafts. Have your breakfast at Papa's or the Market Restaurant in the resort or head out to Shoney's breakfast buffet. Ramando's Italian Restaurant brings you veal marsala, baked Tuscan ziti, eggplant parmigiana and all of the traditional pastas with red sauce. Breakers is minutes away from the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and Broadway at the Beach where you can shop, dine and be entertained for hours.
