Motels in the Montpelier area blend harmoniously with the surrounding countryside, offering rustic, relaxing accommodations to business travelers and vacationers. Amenities and services are often minimal, but down-home hospitality more than makes up for it, as these motels are more mom-and-pop than big-time national chain. In addition, pricing is often competitive for travelers who are looking to save a few bucks on a place that still provides convenient access to local area attractions and restaurants.

what is a fallback

Hilltop Inn of Vermont

The Hilltop Inn of Vermont is an easy drive from local points of interest like the Sugarbush and Stowe ski areas or Vermont's capitol. The property features an indoor heated swimming pool, lounge, Wi-Fi and Green Mountain coffee 24 hours a day. In addition, executive travelers can make use of an unstaffed business center and large conference room that fits up to 200 people comfortably. On-site dining is available at Suzanna's Restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day but Sunday. All 80 guest rooms are clean and cozy, with microwaves, refrigerators and DIRECTV with HBO. Discounts on room rates are offered to government and military travelers, AARP members and corporate guests with CLC cards.

Economy Inn

The Economy Inn is just a hop, skip and jump away area attractions such as the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, Smuggler's Notch and numerous charter fishing outfits. Guests can make use of ample outdoor car and truck parking, free continental breakfast daily, and friendly front desk staff that will help guests navigate the area. Additionally, guests with a hankering for shawarma and vindaloo will enjoy the on-site Little India Restaurant. Non-smoking rooms outnumber smoking ones by a ratio of 70:30. Guests have a choice of one king, two queen or two double beds and amenities like free local calling, data ports and unlimited in-room coffee. Pet lovers are welcome to bring their four-legged friends.

Knoll Motel

The family-owned and operated Knoll Motel is nestled near the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, Historic Barre Opera House and Vermont Granite Museum of Barre, and several restaurants also are close by. The motel gets its name from sitting on a knoll in the foothills of the Green Mountains, just across from the Stevens Branch of the Winooski River. Amenities include wireless broadband, concierge service, two outdoor pools and large grassy areas for picnics or playtime. All guest rooms are smoke-free and feature satellite TV and radio, climate control and private porches. Children under 12 stay free with a paying adult. This property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hollow Inn & Motel

Just 15 minutes outside of Montpelier in the town of Barre sits the Hollow Inn & Motel, offering convenient access to local sites like the Hope Cemetery, Cold Hollow Cider Mill and Rock of Ages Granite Quarry. All guests can enjoy a 24-hour fitness center, courtyard area with gas grill, outdoor pool with sun deck, hot tub and sauna. Three meeting rooms and a lobby lounge with wood-burning fireplace cap it off. A breakfast bar serves complimentary hot and cold items each morning, while local Italian restaurants like Lucia's and Mister Z's are within walking distance. Basic guest rooms feature one king or two queen beds, iron with board, fridge and microwave, while efficiencies with stove and sink are available upon request.
