Bristol Motor Speedway, East Tennessee State University and Roan Mountain draw visitors to Johnson City in far northeastern Tennessee. Set at the edge of the Appalachian Mountains, the area offers outdoors-lovers hiking and whitewater rafting. Motels in Johnson City are plentiful along Interstate 26, and almost all of the properties in the city limits have chain affiliations.

On Friday and Saturday nights, the restaurant hosts live comedians. Nearby restaurants serve Greek, Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. The interior corridor motel has six floors and 205 rooms with Wi-Fi. A small fitness center near the outdoor pool is open 24 hours a day. The motel welcomes pets for a one-time fee.
Farther west on Interstate 26, Value Place is an extended stay property built in 2008, offering rooms with full kitchens at reasonable weekly rates. Kitchens have full-size refrigerators with freezers, a two-burner stove top and microwave oven. Amenities guests might expect to get for free come at an additional cost at Value Place. Kitchen utensils, daily housekeeping, a coffee maker and high-speed Internet cost extra, or guests may supply their own. Cracker Barrel, a chain restaurant serving Southern food in a country atmosphere, operates an outlet nearby. Pets are not allowed.
Courtyard Johnson City
Courtyard Johnson City, built in 2009, is located on Highway 381 northwest of the city. The Bistro, the motel’s restaurant and lounge, is open for breakfast and dinner, and several restaurants, including a dinner theater are within a mile. One of Courtyard Johnson City’s package deals includes accommodations and maps for 12 drives through the mountain countryside. An outdoor pool, fire pit and furnished patio provide outdoor gathering spaces, and the lounge has a 50-inch flat-panel television. Pets are not allowed.
