Located roughly midway between the Louisiana cities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Hammond sits near the junction of interstates 12 and 55. Visitors to the city looking for reasonably priced motel accommodations find four properties that fit the bill. The selection, although fairly narrow, includes an all-suites motel that is a good fit for travelers planning an extended stay in the area.

Just off Exit 40 of Interstate 12, this two-story, 63-unit motel lies only two miles from the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University and less than six miles from Ponchatoula, which bills itself as “the Strawberry Capital of the World.” All rooms and suites at the motel feature microwave ovens and compact refrigerators, as well as high-speed Internet, which is also available in the common areas, including the business center. Recreational facilities include an outdoor swimming pool and exercise room. Although the motel has no on-site restaurant, it provides a complimentary hot breakfast each morning. Nearby eateries include China Garden, El Tapatio, Ryan’s Family Steakhouse and Taco Bell.

Days Inn Hammond

This two-story, 62-unit motel offers guests easy access to both interstates 12 and 55, making it an ideal base for day trips to Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Each of the motel’s guest rooms features a microwave oven and compact refrigerator, along with a spacious desk/work area and high-speed Internet. Guests who want to relax do so in a chaise lounge at poolside, or work off the day’s stress by swimming a few laps in the pool. The Days Inn provides a complimentary breakfast each morning, but has no full-service restaurant. Guests looking for a place to have lunch or dinner choose from several nearby eateries, including Ryan’s Family Steakhouse, Lil’ Johnnie’s, Don’s Seafood and Steakhouse, and Catfish Charlie’s.
