Motels Close to the Airport in Spokane, Washington

by Lisa Mercer Google

It takes less than 30 minutes to travel from most points in downtown Spokane to Spokane International Airport. This allows room for compromise when choosing a lodging venue. If you want one last night on the town, you can find motels that are close to city center but a short drive to the airport. Those with early morning flights can find motels within two miles of the airport. These lodging venues all have airport shuttles.

Best for Kids

Air travel is easier if your kids can sleep through the flight. The Ramada Spokane Airport and Indoor Waterpark, within walking distance of Spokane International Airport, has an indoor, 108-foot water slide, which will let your kids burn off some energy the night before the flight. At the end of the day, toss the bathing suits in the coin-operated guest laundry, pack them up and be ready to leave the next morning. The hotel restaurant has a kid-friendly menu.

Park and Fly

Long-term airport parking is expensive, and a park-and-fly package is an affordable option even if you do not live that far from the airport. The Wingate, one mile from Spokane International Airport, offers overnight accommodations, free breakfast and free parking. The hotel shuttle bus takes you to the airport. As of November, 2010, the package cost $99.

Budget Lodging

Luxury hotel amenities are always nice, but they tend to raise the overnight rate. Since you are less likely to enjoy the hotel extras on a pre-flight or post-flight stay, consider a budget hotel, then splurge on the main part of your trip. Motel 6, 2.7 miles from the airport, usually has room rates of less than $50. Days Inn, in the same area, charges less than $80 and provides continental breakfast and Internet access. America's Best Value Inn, about three miles from the airport, charges about $50 and offers breakfast and Internet access.

Extra Amenities

Now that airlines are limiting their food service, the continental breakfasts served at budget motels might not be enough to hold you for the length of the flight. The Best Western Plus Peppertree Airport Inn, three miles from the airport, offers complimentary deluxe breakfast, which includes waffles, eggs and breakfast burritos. The hotel has a gym and a mini-spa, where massages are available. The Best Western is closer to downtown than the other airport motels.
