Carson City is a bastion of high desert beauty that’s buttressed up against the snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountains, offering cool mild winters and scorching hot summers. Nevada's state capital owes much of its allure to an uncommon mix of indoor gaming, historic attractions and rugged outdoor recreation, as well as its close proximity to both Reno and Lake Tahoe. Tourism remains fairly steady throughout the year, and, as a result, several motels are available offering affordable accommodations to travelers of all stripes.

Days Inn Carson City

Visitors can spot the Days Inn from a couple hundred yards away thanks to the bright yellow sun that adorns its roadside sign. The property is only a half mile from the Silver Oak Golf Course and less than two miles from the Nevada State Museum, which celebrates the Silver State's distinct cultural and natural heritage. Guests can catch a show at the local Brewery Arts Center or slip in a workout at the motel's 24-hour fitness facility. A complimentary breakfast with both hot and cold items is offered each morning, while numerous lunch and dinner restaurants such as Taqueria La Mexicana, Bodines and Bullys Sports Bar and Grill can be found nearby. Clean and comfortable rooms feature limited amenities such as cable TV with HBO, free Wi-Fi and unlimited coffee.

Quality Inn - Trailside Inn

The 67-room Quality Inn is centrally located within walking distance of the Nevada Capitol and is just a short drive from the Western Nevada Community College. The motel offers its Choice Privileges reward program to frequent travelers, with points that can be redeemed for airline miles and free stays. The seasonal outdoor pool is perfect for warm weather swimming and lounging, while copy services, faxing and computer hook-ups offer convenience for corporate travelers. In addition, two different restaurants -- Heidi's and Hunan Garden -- are adjacent to the property. Refrigerators and hair dryers are standard in each modestly decorated guest room, while microwaves and work desks are optional. Well-trained pets are welcome to stay for a small nightly surcharge.

Super 8 Carson City

The Super 8 is an AAA-approved, two-diamond property that offers convenient access to local points of interest like the Stewart Indian Cultural Center and the Annual Silver Dollar Car Classic held during the last weekend of July each year. Additionally, the nearby Children's Museum of Northern Nevada serves as a fun daytime excursion for the under-12 crowd. Property amenities include ample free parking for cars, trucks, buses and RVs as well as a complimentary light breakfast served daily in the lobby area. Locally inspired lunch and dinner dishes can be had at Grandma Hatties across from the motel or at several of the nearby casino restaurants. Both smoking and nonsmoking rooms are available, with cable TV, AM/FM radio alarm and free local calling standard in each.

Motel 6 Carson City

The Motel 6 is particularly attractive to travelers operating on a budget, with discounted room rates and free morning coffee served in the lobby. In addition, all kids stay free when accompanied by a paying adult. Nearby attractions include the Nevada State Railroad Museum and the Empire Ranch Golf Course, which features a championship-level 27-hole layout nestled between scenic bluffs and the Carson River. Motel amenities include an outdoor pool with sunning area, guest laundry facilities and high-speed wireless Internet access for a small fee. Guest rooms feature limited amenities and a restrained décor, and handicapped accessible accommodations are available on request. Pets are welcome as well but must be on a leash at all times when outside of the guest's room.
