Almost all children play shooting games, such as cowboys and Indians, soldiers, pirates and more. They might not always have toy guns with them, though, when they want to play one of these games. That's easy to remedy; with a couple of sheets of paper, they can make their own guns using the folding art of origami.
Items you will need
- 2 rectangular or square sheets of paper
Fold one sheet of paper in half from top to bottom. Fold the paper in half again, and then again.
Fold the paper in half from left to right and then unfold it. Fold the left side down 90 degrees. Fold the right side down 90 degrees also.
Fold the right side over the left to create the handle of the gun.
Fold the other sheet of paper in half from top to bottom. Fold it in half again, and then again. Then fold it in half from left to right.
Insert the barrel into the handle by slipping it inside the shorter end of the handle and pulling it almost all the way through, until the paper resembles a gun with a trigger.
Tips & Warnings
- Children can decorate their guns with markers, paint or crayons.
- Make the creases as hard and crisp as possible. Otherwise, the origami gun won't hold together.
