How to Make Origami Bells

by Jeffery Keilholtz, Demand Media

Making an origami bell is a creative way to celebrate the Christmas holiday. Origami is a Japanese-inspired craft where the artist folds individual sheets of paper into two- and three-dimensional shapes. According to the Origami Resource Center, origami was originally intended as an ornament for formal gifts. In modern times, origami is a craft enjoyed by people from all walks of life. Once your bell is created, finish it off by hanging if on a Christmas tree or refrigerator during the holiday season.

    Step 1

Lay the paper onto a table top. Spin the paper so one of the corners is facing you.

    Step 2

Fold the top half of the paper over the bottom half. Crease the fold. The object now resembles a triangle.

    Step 3

Fold the right tip to the middle of the left side of the triangle. Fold the left tip to the middle edge of the right side of the triangle. The object now has three flat sides and a bottom tip.

    Step 4

Fold the front and backside flaps of the bottom tip up toward center. The object is now a bell-shaped polygon.

    Step 5

Cut out a 1 1/2-inch ring from green construction paper. Glue the ring to the top edge of the bell at center. Cut out a 1 1/2-inch bell clapper from green construction paper. Glue the clapper to the bottom edge of the bell at center.
